    THE UNHOLY GRAIL

    THE UNHOLY GRAIL

In this episode, Dolyamba and friends namely; Ayo, Ifunanya, Hyelya and Farida discuss some strangulating issues that they refer to as the "unholy grail" affecting the progress and dampening the esteem of young Africans, with emphasis on the Nigerian Youth. They address the effects and shocking presence of racism, the adverse effects of colonial rule, Neo-colonialsm and much more...the conversation throws light on how racism, an "uncommon" and overlooked concept to many in Nigeria, has birthed a disturbing attitude towards the dark skin tone which is largely considered undesirable. The conversation reveals how this concept has metamorphosed into colorism in the continent of Africa and how tribalism/Ethnicsm has been devised by the government as a tool to “divide and conquer” the people, for its selfish gain.  Don't be deceived by all the grammar...this episodes was more laughs and jabs than what it seems...listen, comment, rate, share and enjoy!

    DITCH THAT PHRASE!

    DITCH THAT PHRASE!

In this episode, Dolyamba and Basil discuss how language is used as a tool of oppression.
They talk about how we as Africans, living in Africa, have unknowingly inherited and infused racial slurs into our everyday vocabulary and living style. These phrases and expressions sprung out of the colonialists' bastardisation of the black man's humanity. Dol and Bas proceed to give historical contexts and share personal experiences on the subject matter.
History has never been so fun.
We would love to hear your thoughts about the topic discussed on the episode and also insights on any other racial slur(s) you know and its historical background as well.
Don't forget to leave a comment, share, and rate this episode when you listen to it. Also use #takesbymidnight , #ditchthatphrase , #tbmpod to join the conversation on twitter.
