Art of the Score
Art of the Score is the podcast that explores, demystifies and celebrates some of the greatest soundtracks of all time from the world of film, TV and video games. In each episode we’ll be joined by Andrew Pogson, Dan Golding and Nicholas Buc as we check out a soundtrack we love and break down its main themes, explore what makes the score tick and hopefully impart our love of the world of soundtracks.
You know that great feeling when you discover a great new podcast…

…and then the even better feeling when you see it has episodes going for back years…I came here via Strong Songs (also great) Andor (so great) and a love for Brittel (fab) John Williams (so so fab) and Star Wars (epic, iconic). Listening to the first half of the SW- ANH episode and the score brings back so many recollections of me my clumsy 7 year old fumbling around big world ideas and I’m hooked. Smart commentary on beautiful bits of music and why they work where they do in the films they are in, all without dissecting the beauty to dryness. It’s so good I’ve rewinded every time I didn’t catch what was said cos I don’t wanna miss a thing. Thank you chaps!
Amazing, insightful, with a splash of humour! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I have discovered this podcast quite late but have practically listened to the entire series back-to-back over the last few weeks. I have long since been a fan of film scores ever since my first viewing of Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, E.T., Titanic, and so many more. I am so glad that you guys have taken the time to do a deep dive into many different scores. The podcast is fantastic in that it is pitched not just in a way that is insightful to music aficionados — those who know their minors from majors, and can sense the underlying Dies Irae in everything — but is also accessible and indeed enjoyable to those without formal training. I often find myself finishing the sentences of the presenters, which really makes me feel as if I am in like minded company. The contextualisation of the scores and individual pieces in terms of the history of each composer and in wider film history and the commentary of where films sit in the timeline of cinema history really add to the discussions. Last, it must be said that Andrew, Nicholas, and Dan are all hugely knowledgeable and entertaining, and the chemistry between the presenters makes the podcast even more engaging. Looking forward to episodes on E.T, Titanic, and several on The Lord of the Rings…🤞🏻
Amazing! Please make more!

Really great podcast, I’m actually just starting on my second run through it. There’s just so much packed into every episode, not just about the score but about the movie, the director, Crew and cast. There’s also lots of parallels drawn between different movies and composers and a fair bit of history thrown in for good measure. Ultimately the guys really know their stuff and are really sharp and funny to boot. Can’t recommend this podcast enough for lovers of film scores, music or movies. 5 stars! Now please make some more episodes!

I don’t know how they keep on doing it but they keep on making the most entertaining and funny episodes I also learn so much not just about the score but also about the movie they talk about. Art of the score is a must listen if you are reading this to see if u want to listen to it start it right away.
