Excellently told
Enjoyed listening to this when it first came out. Have recently relistened and am probably even more impressed as Ben Hill has an excellent voice to listen to and really seems to know his stuff, which is clearly told, in an interesting manner. Has he done anything else? Does anyone know?
Hard to find history
It’s quite hard to find people talking about Mongols without the “They’re barbarians, murderers, and rapists”. How he talks about facts and speculations without that judgement is refreshing. It is said that history is written by the winners, but the Mongols seem to be an exception as our culture and history didn’t leave much of written hard facts that the historians favour. So those who did wrote, wrote it from the perspective of the folks who were on the receiving end of the invasion. Truly, I appreciate how he spoke without swaying greatly to specific perspective.
