Growth Programmes: Why do they matter and what options are out there?
When it comes to growing a new venture, things are easier said than done. Fortunately, there are numerous options for kickstarting a business and then getting the support you need to help it grow. Incubators, pre-accelerators, accelerators and venture builders are all there to help.
Saalim Chowdhury (Managing Director of Techstars London) is behind one of the biggest and most prestigious accelerators in the world. Harish Malhi (Founder of Goodspeed) has experienced the other side of the coin as a user of programmes like this. It's difficult to know where to start as a young entrepreneur looking to grow their venture, so that's what we're digging into today.
We at the Centre for Entrepreneurs have been researching the support programmes available to UK entrepreneurs and have launched our report 'Incubation Nation', including the largest, free online directory of UK accelerator and incubator programmes. #5 Diversifying the startup and investment ecosystem
The phrase "diversity in startups and investment" probably already means something to you, but today, we'd like to explore the nature of diversity itself through the individual experiences of our guests: Kike Oniwinde Agoro (Founder and CEO of BYP Network) and Nikita Thakrar (Co-Founder and CEO of Included VC).
One of the most important investments a business ever makes is in its people: the founders, the investors, the partners, the guiding spirits, the mentors, the advisors, everybody that's involved. Ensuring diversity at this level is incredibly important, but how do we get there?
#4 Finding a Co-Founder: Choosing the right person for you and your business
Getting your founding team right is one of the most important aspects of starting a business.
But while finding the right co-founder to build something with is critical, it's also incredibly hard. Where are you supposed to find a co-founder and how are you supposed to know what you're looking for?
Today, our guests are Kiran Thadhani (Co-Founder and Partner of SANTALUM) and Farah Kanji (Chief People Officer at Founders Factory). Between the two of them, they know a thing or two about what it takes to find the co-founder that's right for your business and for you.
#3 Growing a Team: From making your first hire to scaling your team
It might sound obvious or cliched, but a business is only as strong as the team it’s made up of, so growing a team the right way is absolutely paramount to creating something successful.
Today's guests, Claire Rampen (Co-Founder and CEO of Reath) and Eliot Brooks (Co-Founder of Thriva) know a thing of two about growing a team, so let's find out what they can teach us about how to identify and harness the amazing talent that's out there in order to take our businesses to the next level.
#2 Getting First Customers: How to find customers when you're brand new
A business won’t last long if it doesn’t bring in customers.
Making sales is easy enough when you’re an established brand, but how are you supposed to reach that point when you're starting from nothing?
There are numerous ways to create a name for yourself, but knowing where to start can be overwhelming. That’s why we're talking to today's guests, James Ker-Reid & Patrick Thorp (Co-Founders of Founder Revenue Academy) and Rachael Twumasi-Corson (Founder and CEO of Afrocenchix).
#1 Getting Funding: What to think about when financing your early-stage business
A business can’t operate without money. Buying stock, paying wages, getting a product ready to launch… it all requires you to spend -- and, more often than not, it requires it before you have money coming in.
Loans, angel investment, crowdsourcing, grants and full-on venture capital: there a wide variety of options to solve this problem, but how are you supposed to know where to start?
Today's guests, Yang Liu (Co-Founder and CEO of JustWears) and Ashley Staines (Founder and CEO of Volunteero) weigh in with their thoughts.
