Muldoon Rocks
22/11/2023
I enjoyed this podcast very much. The only problem with it is that Paul Muldoon is far more interesting in his interpretation and meaning finding than McCartney himself. However, it’s good humored and a gentle listen. Beatles aficionados may not find much new her . Im not a super fan so it’s fun for me.
Spoiled by advertising
25 Feb
Looked forward to this podcast series having enjoyed The Lyrics book and loving Paul’s work. Sadly, though, there are way too many advertising breaks and they occur way too often, totally interrupting the flow (no matter how expertly you wield the 30 secs FForward button). Massively over-intrusive. I’m surprised he lent his name to this tbh.
Yesterday - nothing new
21 Feb
This tells us nothing new that has not been said many times before. It purports to be a “masterclass” yet, apart from a superficial discussion on a very small portion of the lyrics there is nothing about the harmonic structure or arrangement of the song. Also, McCartney appears to dismiss Jane Asher’s mother, Margret Asher, as a “great cook”. She was a music professor at the Guild Hall School of Music and, according to her son Peter Asher, taught McCartney a great deal while he was living there. I would’ve liked to have heard more about that in this podcast.
Always learning something new.

The Beatles for me (and yes you who will be reading this) have been as part of my life as the the breath I take. I am always delighted to learn more and more, when I think I know it all. The two Paul’s provide a very relaxed and comfy atmosphere, to the point when it appears that Macca is talking with his mouth full of biscuit/cake. Love it. There is always a small crumb of unknown info that pops out here and there. Long may it continue.😘 Stephen Martin
