My Family, Mental Illness, and Me

Conversations about parental mental illness, with Dr Pamela Jenkins. Pamela's mum Irene had a schizo-affective disorder. In each of these episodes, she shares memories and experiences with someone else who also grew up as the child of a parent with mental illness. My Family, Mental Illness, and Me is a podcast from Our Time, a charity that supports and advocates for the estimated 3 million UK young people living with or caring for a parent with a mental illness. It’s so valuable to hear from the children of parents who have experienced mental distress. These stories are often hard to tell, but I think it’s handled with such compassion and understanding from the presenter, which in turn frees something up in the guests. A highly recommended listen.
I feel seen!❤️

I laughed and cried my way through some of the episodes. It’s incredibly honest and such a beautiful listen at times. Everyone, regardless of their mental health journey, will be able to relate. It’s about being human. A really thoughtfully produced podcast. Highly recommend!
