Great content spoilt by poor production quality
The Guardian has a great political team and I’ve really welcomed the new Westminster Politics Weekly podcast with Pippa Crerar and Kiran Stacey. However the volume is so variable listening can become a hassle instead of a pleasure. I have just played the latest episode on the first leaders debate and spent most of the half hour trying to find a way of increasing the volume to a comfortable level.
Rwanda Bill episode
Always enjoy the podcast and John’s style. The interview with the asylum seeker was very poignant, considering what he’d gone through, his hopes, his age. However, a question… you said he’d left his home country of Kurdistan. (I checked the script as well in case I’d misheard Kyrgyzstan.) Kurdistan is a geo-cultural area covering bits of Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria. So I’d still be very interested to know where he’s from?
Empathy
The interview with Daniel Levy was very good but especially your last question when you asked Daniel how he was feeling. That showed real human empathy which is all too rare in political interviews, let alone politics more generally. It must be especially difficult for Daniel as an Israeli able to see both the Palestinian perspective and the terrible, perhaps irrepairable damage that Israel has done to its image and reputation worldwide.
