If you could call a number and say you’re sorry, and no one would know…what would you apologize for? For fifteen years, you could call a number in Manhattan and do just that. This is the story of the line, and the man at the other end who became consumed by his own creation. He was known as “Mr. Apology.” As thousands of callers flooded the line, confessing to everything from shoplifting to infidelity, drug dealing to murder, Mr. Apology realized he couldn’t just listen. He had to do something, even if it meant risking everything. From Wondery the makers of Dr. Death and The Shrink Next Door, comes a story about empathy, deception and obsession. Marissa Bridge, who knew Mr. Apology better than anyone, hosts this six episode series. Listen to The Apology Line ad-free on Wondery+ in the Wondery App, Apple Podcasts or Spotify. What a project!
05/01/2022
I found this a really intriguing podcast. I thought the sound quality was great. I understood every word of every recording and only one ear of my headphones work, so I can’t understand why some people couldn’t. The story lends itself perfectly to the podcast medium. Adverts aren’t annoying when you can forward them; when it means you don’t have to pay for a wonderful story, why moan?! Thanks to Marissa Bridge for sharing this story from a difficult part of her life. I’m kind of glad I wasn’t able to listen along to the actual Apology Line, as I would have been drawn in and obsessed by it like Allan was.
Click bait. So disappointing

Someone else in the reviews summed it up better but this is basically clickbait for your coin. Promises intrigue, delivers little. I would waste your time.
Wondery should apologise
31/01/2022
Struggling artist ask people to call him and apologise. Insane people, loners, stalkers and fakers call and make stories up. Artist loves attention and can’t turn it off but wants to make money. Artist tries to ‘snare’ a killer but realises all the callers are nuts and killer caller is fake. Ex-wife of artist feels guilty and portrays him as a philanthropist, wondery makes podcast and sells advertisements against it. Repeat. Yawn.
Why did I wait so long to listen?!
10/01/2022
I downloaded this podcast about two months ago. I just got through listening to the first episode, and all I can think of, is why did I wait so long to listen to it! What an amazing and intriguing podcast. I found it by accident, when I went to look for another specific podcast, and this was suggested. It sounded interesting immediately from the description, but it’s delivered even more than I could have ever hoped for. Alan and Marissa, sound like my kind of people, and as she describes 1980s NYC, it’s a city that I remember visiting back then, that I instantly loved. I moved to London in 1981, when I’d just turned 18, and the New Yorkers that she described, reminded me of my tribe back then, and why I moved to London, and like Marissa, knew that a big city with lots of interesting people, was for me, and knew, “I was never going back” to my tiny city in Wales. I moved in with an artist, and we formed a band, and all my friends were artists, actors, musicians, club promoters (of all the coolest club nights in London, back then) etc. All that is to say, I related hard to this podcast. I met so many interesting people back then - many of whom I’m still friends with today - yet I never came across any artist, with a story as intriguing as this. Thank you Wondery, but more specifically Marissa, you have a new ardent fan, and I will certainly be telling all my friends about it. Truly, an excellent piece of work.
