    Binge & Emotional Eating Q&A

    Binge & Emotional Eating Q&A

The Chase Life podcast is back with another Q&A series, this time on all things related to binge and emotional eating and your relationship with food.

Rachel and David get to the bottom of 3 common questions so many people are struggling with:

    1. How can you stop yourself from a binge when you know you’re going to do it but you just can’t stop?
    2. I’m fine during the day but then I become the cookie monster when the kids go to bed!
    3. I put on weight after leaving my husband, then I consciously was afraid to look good as people would judge me as the fit and healthy person who left…is this common??

Delving straight into the first question, Rachel and David explain…
    • What to do when it feels “like another part of you takes over”.
    • The role of the survival brain and why logical thinking and rationalizing doesn’t work.
    • How to learn to communicate with your survival brain in a language it understands.
    • And the two key factors that will help eliminate binge eating from your life forever.

Eating at night when the little rugrats go to bed is something SO MANY people struggle with. Rachel and David unpack…
    • The factors that lead you to becoming the cookie monster late at night in the first place.
    • Practical strategies to implement as your first port of call.
    • How to effectively deal with emotional hunger and emotional cravings.
    • Why common solutions like distraction techniques, willpower and cutting out trigger foods only end up making things worse.

Lastly, and getting to the root of our final question, Rachel and David explain…
    • What really underlies this fear of being judged.
    • The single most important secret to resolving this issue.
    • Why all the transformation and diet and exercise stuff is only a surface level temporary fix.
    • Why, at the end of the day, fat loss really is an emotional problem.

If you want to learn to let go of the fear of being judged, overcome that negative and quite bossy voice in your head, or just simply feel that, oh I’m actually normal and loads of people are struggling with this stuff, then Episode 68 is most definitely one episode not to be missed!

Episode 68 of the Chase Life podcast is chock full of actionable and VERY practical strategies that if implemented today, will quite literally change your life!

Decision making, finding love in your 40’s, and breaking out of ruts… The random Q&A show!

Decision making, finding love in your 40’s, and breaking out of ruts… The random Q&A show!

Rachel and David answer three big questions:

    1. How to learn to love being single and on your own at 43…
    2. Tips on making decisions and sticking to them for example which goals to focus on…
    3. How to get yourself out of a rut.

Rachel and David dive deep into why age is only a number, how to uncover hidden beliefs you have surrounding love and relationships later in life, why it may be better to be single at 43 than 23 (you’ll LOVE this one!), and how to actually enjoy the process of dating rather than seeing it as a chore or something to be endured!

We all know people that exude charisma and that special something but what is it that makes someone truly sexy? Rachel and David explore what that secret ingredient is, the precursor to sexy (it’s not the six pack), how to be happy on your own, and just what exactly you’re supposed to do in the meantime while you’re waiting around for Mr or Mrs Right…

Moving on, the two dive into decisiveness and the importance of knowing yourself, the 2 big factors that get in the way of making decisions, and the 3 underlying fears that hold so many of us back when it comes to taking action (number 2 will blow your mind!).

Finally, Episode 67 closes with the answer to one of the biggest blocks in life: THE RUT. Find out practical tips on how to break out of yours, what to focus on, how to reframe, and how to learn to let go and let the answers come to YOU.

The Secret To REAL Self Confidence

The Secret To REAL Self Confidence

Confidence is the absolute foundation to creating the life that you love.
Except…What’s behind real self confidence? And more importantly, how do you create it?!!
    The thing is…
There’s a ton of bs and happy flower woo woo out there around “how to be more self confident”, but these approaches hardly, if ever, work long term.
Approaches like “fake it till you make it” and “be it until you see it” are all well and good but are only ONE part of the picture.
Episode 65 cuts through the fluff and puff and delves straight into the core foundation of self confidence, the role of self-worth and what that looks and FEELS like in action, the 2 biggest mistakes most people make that keeps them stuck in low self confidence and imposter syndrome, and why true self confidence is both an inside-out AND an outside-in job.
At the end of the day, we can do all the inner and outer work we want but unless we combine, implement, and back this work up with action, true and genuine self confidence will always be out of our reach. Episode 65, shows you exactly what that action entails.
If you want to learn how to be fully present, have UNSTOPPABLE self-confidence, make ballsy decisions, and develop the courage to behave in new ways that actually align with your new sense of identity… Episode 65 of the Chase Life podcast with Rachel Godfrey is one episode you DON’T want to miss.

Slacking Off Or Being Smart? How to know when to back off or push hard in your training

Slacking Off Or Being Smart? How to know when to back off or push hard in your training

How do you know when it’s appropriate to take your foot off the gas, have a lighter session and reduce volume and how do you know when you're just bullshitting yourself?
Things are rarely black and white but sometimes we hold ourselves to impossible rules and standards that keep us trapped from not only progressing in our training, but in our lives.
    The problem is….
So many of us have lost the ability to think for ourselves – certainly when it comes to fitness & nutrition… We rely on someone else to tell us what to do, when to do it, and we’ve simply lost the ability to trust ourselves and our own intuition.
However, there comes a point where you have to figure out what works for YOU and there is no right answer.
Rachel and David delve into how to find that balance in training as a busy professional, how to let go of overanalysing and perfectionistic thoughts regarding diet and exercise, how to learn to think for yourself, how to trust your own decisions, and the key factors to take into account if you’re on the fence between going light or slogging through.
Rachel explains exactly why she believes exercise should NOT be a form of therapy, the dangers of needing exercise in your life as your only outlet for stress, how to detach emotion from food and exercise, and the most important factor of all when it comes to balancing your training (hint: it’s not intensity).
If you’ve ever wondered about the difference between listening to your body versus being lazy, or between pushing hard versus just flogging yourself and digging yourself deeper into a hole, then Episode 63 of the Chase Life podcast is most definitely your episode!

Straight Talking Health, Fitness

I have followed Rachel for many years back in the Ben Coomber days when she was in Australia. She has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to health and fitness. She tells it like it is and doesn’t sugar coat it. David is brilliant too. I love their honesty and the fun elements they bring to the podcast. I love to listen to it when I am lifting weights in our garage.

Honest, direct, funny and useful

I’ve been listening to Rachel and David since they started this podcast and I won’t miss it. Without fail you get something practical abs useful to apply to life - by far the best for me is 10-12k steps a day if nothing else and just get it done! The fact they have two small children and can empathise with the chaos that entails and stay realistic about getting to that next level of self care and awareness makes it a winner of a pod cast. Adding bonus it’s a funny listen especially when Rachel heads off on a related tangent. Keep them coming please 🙏

Great content but…

I really like this podcast and find the information so valuable. They have a no nonsense approach without being self righteous and break things down in a way that makes tackling these issues feel doable - the knowledge is incredible, however I also find it hard to listen to due to the fact the host constantly clears his throat every few minutes and it’s really annoying/distracting. Minor point I know but when it’s an audio medium it stands out so much. Would still recommend it to anyone interesting in breaking old patterns and negative cycles though.
