Folabi has always had a flair for creativity which lead him to study architecture at University.Leaving uni he started doing freelance work such as graphic design, video editing and events and landed a role in PR.#Merky FC came into the picture and now he’s an events coordinator at Guild Esports working with the production team.Lock in to learn more about how the programme helped Folabi kick off a career in sports, and how you can too!

After University, Sultan was struggling to find a graduate scheme due to a lack of work experience.

He had bills to pay and had to find a job to make ends meet. Working jobs he had no passion for, he sought a way out.

Then Merky came into the picture. His brother told him about this amazing initiative getting young black talent into the sports Industry!

Growing up, Sultan didn’t have access to channels like Disney, so he spent his time watching football and free sports programmes like TES Match Cricket.

Sultan translated his passion for sports into his application to the Merky programme, and it was clear to all of us at DIVERSE that he was perfect for #Merky FC!

Now he works in Production at Sky Sports.

Meet Ayo.

Ayo is a massive Liverpool FC fan.

One day he picked up his sister's laptop and started messing around with photoshop, designing football edits.

Ayo decided to venture into freelance graphic design, where he poured his heart into crafting a standout portfolio. He eventually received an unconditional offer to study Graphic Design at University.

His work did not go unnoticed.

Enter #Merky FC, the game-changer. Ayo seized the opportunity and wowed the DIVERSE team, earning himself a coveted spot at KSS, a top architecture and design firm renowned for its sports venues.

Gabi is currently a Tech Talent associate coming towards the end of the Scheme. Her rotations have been in Cellular Genetics Informatics and within our Informatics and Digital Solutions team.

Meet Oyinola. He struggled to find a role after graduating. Frustrated, he decided to try and start his own online business to show employers what he could do. Then one day his girlfriend told him about #Merky FC. A programme created by Stormzy and adidas to help young black individuals get roles within football by providing entry-level placements and educational events.

He applied and got in.

Ayesha (yes, our very own) interviewed him for a role for LADbible Group and even though it was just getting started, she loved the initiative and social media skills he’d shown with his online business.

And now?

He’s the latest rising star in the SPORTbible team.
