MILLIE KENDALL: The fact is the average woman on the high street needs to care more about environment and buy for 'value' not 'cheap'

MILLIE KENDALL: The fact is the average woman on the high street needs to care more about environment and buy for 'value' not 'cheap'

Millie is a bit of a ballsy number in the beauty industry with a career that straddles PR, Marketing, Retail and Ecom is Founder and first CEO of the British Beauty Council and her no nonsense attitude is evident in her conversation about fixing what is wrong in the beauty industry, improving sustainability and her real palpable fear for her and her daughter's futures. Millie was awarded an MBE in 2007 for services to the cosmetics industry and more recently, 2022, Millie was awarded an OBE in the New Years Honours List. But underneath it all, Millie says she’s just a hippy who loves beauty.

JO FAIRLEY: Eschew TV if you want to get stuff done!

JO FAIRLEY: Eschew TV if you want to get stuff done!

Entrepreneur, Journalist & Inspirational Speaker Jo Fairley chats about how she skipped out of school with a few O levels going on to become the youngest Editor of a mag to co-founding Green & Black's chocolate , the UK's first-ever organic chocolate and Fairtrade-marked product - turning an idea in a Portobello bedroom to a global ethical brand you might have heard of it
Jo's tips on living a more natural and sustainable life:

Buying organic food, always; with a plant-focused diet it doesn't have to be expensive, and people don't realise how much carbon organic farming locks up in the soil. Plus I don't want glyphosate in my body – there's a lot of research being done into its effect on our gut microbiome, and if something's not organic, then it may well have been sprayed with glyphosate.Join the Women's Environmental Network For many years I was a 'Matron' of this wonderful organisation, which was supported by my mentor, Anita RoddickAltogether, buy less, buy better – whether that's clothes, chocolate or furniture.Walk, walk, walk – those 10,000 steps a day aren't just good for you, but for the environment.
A few of Jo's favourite things:

Green & Blacks 85% Dark chocRare Tea Company Speedy Breakfast 'The Founder Henrietta Lovell invented this for me!' says JoA Coffee éclair at The WolseleyFacial acupuncture at The Wellington Centre and forest bathing in the small woodland that we have nearby (I totally believe in it and now they're beginning to understand how potent the phytochemicals that trees give out are).I keep a rollerball of this essential oil-based fragrance in my handbag because I find it wonderfully grounding, yet it honestly doubles as a beautiful perfume.I love these bath salts before bedtime – properly sleep-beckoningI have been a fan of this range ever since the original Frankincense Nourishing Cream became one of the highest-scoring 'miracle treatments', in our first age-defying book – which became such a bestseller that it actually created a shortage of blue glass! It's a fantastic range and I love the scent; this light eye cream doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes (and I'm convinced that frankincense really is effective on lines and wrinkles). This Episode was sponsored by Soil Association Certification @soilassociationbeauty

SARAH TILLEY: The real roots of sustainability stem from healthy relationships with each other

SARAH TILLEY: The real roots of sustainability stem from healthy relationships with each other

Sarah Tilly is a Psychedelic Assisted Therapist, and couple therapist specialising in psychedelic therapy, modern relationships and sexual wellness. She has been working with plant medicine and altered states for 20 years with individuals, groups and couples and has guided hundreds of altered-state journeys with music, working with powerful intention and ongoing integration, including myself and my husband who undertook a hero dose of Psilocybin (also known as Magic Mushrooms) under Sarah's watchful eye, for a lead health article for The Times (read it here).
In this conversation Sarah talks about childhood trauma through generations to re writing our damaging internal stories, the importance of spiritual freedom and protecting our young from the harm we are doing.
Sarah firmly believes children and good quality relationships are the future, that sustainability starts from within and that complimentary medicine is the key to an affordable and low carbon healthcare system regenerating people and planet.
    Find out more about Sarah
Read about The Limits to Growth study I refer to that came out in 1972
Sarah's tips on living a more natural and sustainable life:
Eat a more plant based and vegetarian centric dietPractice Eye Gazing regularly - Looking into another’s eyes—without speaking—is a powerful way to connect and understand yourself. Studies show that people feel closer, more trusting, and more empathetic following a deep gaze. Silence between people can often be misunderstood as nothing is happening, when something profound is happening: total presence.Improve your relationship and cultivate a strong family support systemBe open to complimentary medicine, it is the past and the future
