The Kids of Rutherford County
From Serial Productions and The New York Times in partnership with ProPublica and Nashville Public Radio, “The Kids of Rutherford County” is reported and hosted by Meribah Knight, a Peabody-award winning reporter based in the South. For over a decade, one Tennessee county arrested and illegally jailed hundreds, maybe thousands, of children. A four-part narrative series reveals how this came to be, the adults responsible for it, and the two lawyers, former juvenile delinquents themselves, who try to do something about it. Good story ruined by vocal fry
4 Jun
The vocal fry of the narrator is so annoying I almost gave up. I persisted and just tried hard to block it out. The story started really well and the injustices made me suitably outraged, but it didn’t really go anywhere and at the end of episode 4, it just stopped. I guess they may do a second series but it felt an anticlimax. It’s almost Serial but not quite.
The voice
5 Aug
I really really wanted to listen to this. But I just couldn’t get past the host’s voice. The cadences are so incredibly irritating.
Good podcast awful presenter’s voice
8 Jul
Good podcast but presenter has the most annoying voice, really hard to listen.
Shocking and important story
29 Feb
I’m only 3 episodes in but I’m already flabbergasted by the injustices discussed in this podcast. The vocal fry really isn’t as much of a problem as other reviews would have you believe. Even if it is, this podcast’s too important to miss.
