S-Town is a podcast hosted by Brian Reed from Serial Productions, a New York Times company. The story follows a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who's allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But when someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life.
“If you keep your mouth shut, you’ll be surprised what you can learn.”
“Has anybody called you?”
“Tedious and brief.”
“If anybody could find it, it would be me.”
“Nobody’ll ever change my mind about it.”
“Since everyone around here thinks I’m a queer anyway.”
One of the best podcasts I’ve listened to. Loved the way the story was told and definitely did John justice.
Would love to hear an update on Tyler, was the gold ever found? How is Mary Grace doing?
Hard to Match
I started listening to podcasts in the first lock down last year and someone recommended S Town. Honestly, the story is so captivating that the bar was set so very high that, even after listening to hundreds of podcasts since, I can’t find anything to match this. There is something about this unexpected story of a mans life that is so moving, unexpected, magical that leaves a long lasting deep impression and is impossible to forget. A bit like a book that affects you and you never forget it. I can’t recommend this podcasts highly enough. I’m just about to relisten.
The Best podcast ever ever produced.
This is an incredible story. But it’s how it’s told and the characters which keep you hooked and I never wanted it to end. I’ve never heard anything like this before.... or since.. it’s incredible.
