The Couple Who Changed How I Relate: Lessons from the Godparents of Love

The Couple Who Changed How I Relate: Lessons from the Godparents of Love

In this episode, I have the absolute honor of welcoming legendary relationship experts Harville Hendrix & Helen LaKelly Hunt. I had to pinch myself when I met them – it was a full circle moment for me. I found Harville and Helen’s work at a time in my life when I was deeply confused about relationships. I didn't know why I was so good at talking about everything but my feelings. I didn't know why I chose the people I chose or was the way I was. Harville and Helen’s work and their book gave me context to my personal relational patterns and a framework for relating better.
In this episode, Harville and Helen discuss the transformative power of dialogue in relationships and the importance of curiosity and open-mindedness. We explore the complexities of emotional healing and self-awareness in relationships, the concept of unconscious attraction in romantic partnerships, and how childhood needs and experiences shape adult behaviors and relationships. Tune in for a profound conversation that will surely impact the way you relate in your life moving forward.
Harville Hendrix Ph.D. and Helen LaKelly Hunt Ph.D. are co-creators of Imago Relationship Therapy and a social movement called Safe Conversations. Internationally respected as couple’s therapists, educators, speakers, activists, and New York Times bestselling authors, their 10 books, including the timeless classic, Getting the Love You Want: A Guide for Couples, have sold more than 4 million copies. Harville appeared on the Oprah Winfrey television program 17 times! Helen was installed in the Women’s Hall of Fame and the Smithsonian Institute. They have six children and eight grandchildren.

Thank you!

I came across Mark’s content by pure chance during the lockdown. I had a tough time in yr two, signed up to CBT and at the end of my 12wks saying goodbye the consultant suggested I check MG’s instagram account. I enjoy his energy, some advice I’ve implemented and other discussions were useful to learn about people around me. The best and simplest take away to be me, get to know me and get comfortable with my boundaries and values. Just wanted to say, thank you!

Annie9273 ,

Love it

Only podcast I listen to, I also did one of Mark’s courses which was also amazing

My Favourite Podcast

From Covid to moralism, and masculinity to dharma, I have heard Mark lead the largest conversations since he started. Thank you Mark for leading the way for all — to not only listen for themselves, but to be brave enough to open these questions about the decisions they make within their own relationships! Such a steady and strong voice in these chaotic times.
