The 4 elements your team needs to succeed (and why you shouldn’t rely on Net Promoter Scores)

The 4 elements your team needs to succeed (and why you shouldn’t rely on Net Promoter Scores)

The 4 elements your team needs to succeed

(And why you shouldn’t rely on Net Promoter Scores)

    With Jeff Gothelf

I’d been looking forward to talking to Jeff on the podcast for a while. Not only is he brilliant when it comes to discussing Product Leadership but he’s written some great books and really has it dialed in when it comes to how teams succeed.

Jeff’s insights on agile and how best to make teams succeed was really fascinating. He discussed how we need four elements if we want to succeed.

    Teams need to be

SmallCross functional Managed to outcomes (not output)Empowered to make decisions

The fourth one is where I’ve seen teams stumble and fall.

I’ve worked with so many companies in the past who get totally caught up in Net Promoter Scores and feel that it's a good understanding of reality. Jeff quickly put that thought to bed with a really thorough view on why Net Promoter Scores don’t work.

Enjoy this podcast. I’ve love to know your thoughts.

Whole Product Thinking with Roger Snyder of the 280 Group

Whole Product Thinking with Roger Snyder of the 280 Group

Ever wanted to have a framework for your product that covers ALL of it?

Ever wondered how some product leaders seem to have their entire product just “work”.

It helps to have the best framework to help you do that.

In this episode of the podcast Roger Snyder, VP Marketing for the 280 Group joins us to discuss Whole Product Thinking. While this has been around for a while (going back to Jeffrey Moore’s Crossing the Chasm in the 90’s) it’s such a fundamental framework for Product Management that it’s worth considering in detail.

Roger gives us loads of great examples of Whole Product Thinking and we have a brilliant discussion about how this can help you in your role as a Product Leader.

The 280 Group produce some amazing content so have a look at the show notes below and check them out for yourself.

Roger was a great guest and I’m really looking forward to talking to him again in the future.

From Product Manager to Product Leader

From Product Manager to Product Leader

Recently the ProductPlan team released their eBook From Product Manager to Product Leader - Lessons from today's product experts and I really enjoyed it.

One of the things I speak a lot about on the Product Coach podcast is how to be a Product Leader and this book really dives into a lot of detail about it and on this podcast Jim Semick from ProductPlan helps us dissect the lessons from the book.

As the book says: "While there are many reasons products might succeed, it’s the direction of great product leadership that truly makes a difference."

I couldn't agree more. Enjoy the episode and The Product Leadership book can be downloaded from:
     https://www.productplan.com/lp/product-leadership-book/

Enjoy it and feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you think.

All the best on your product journey,
