Hi Al & James, such a great podcast! I listen to every episode. Have you visited the Australian War Memorial in Canberra? I’ve been fortunate enough to visit twice. It’s an eye opener to the role & sacrifices our cousins down under made in WW2 and other conflicts.

Thank you for the depth of knowledge and the understanding of the effect of total war on people in the most significant event in my living memory. I was truly surprised by the humanity of your stories. From wave to beach to field to city on total continents. It weaves a masterpiece of present voices. It is as if I was really there.
Terrible Trump comparison episode

The entire premise of the episode is based on hearsay, with Trump allegedly saying, 'I Need the Kind of Generals That Hitler Had. As we’ve seen since Trump entered politics, any report about him needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt, given how often claims about him have later been proven false. They try to preface it with warnings like, "Oh, you’ve got to be careful making comparisons between Trump and Hitler," but it’s clear what they’re doing. By discussing Hitler’s generals alongside Trump, they’re deliberately drawing a negative connection.

In terms of knowledge, there’s few better than James Holland. However, the constant bad comedy, terrible accents, and incessant talking over each other is becoming borderline unbearable
