    9. Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy and Cancer Rehab

Welcome back to Tales From the Floor, where we will be talking about all things pelvic floor physiotherapy! In our final episode, my team of pelvic floor physiotherapists and I are chatting about a very important topic: cancer rehab. As pelvic physiotherapists, we always look beyond the outcome of survival in oncology patients and instead focus on the effects that treatment can have. Gynecological cancer treatment has a huge impact on sexual health and we hope to shed some light on this often overlooked topic.

Today, we will discuss the different types of gynecological cancers and the things we can do as pelvic physiotherapists to help cancer survivors on their road to recovery following treatment, including being another source of support and education. We’ll also touch on the side effects that can come with gynecological cancer and even breast cancer treatment, the things you can do at home to ensure you’re taking the best care of your pelvic floor after receiving treatment, and much more. Keep listening as we discuss the role of pelvic physiotherapists in cancer rehab and join us on Facebook and Instagram at @talesfromthefloor and @abodyinmotionrehab. Thank you so much to our incredible listeners, we hope you enjoyed this series as much as we’ve enjoyed sharing it with you!

    8. Exercise and the Pelvic Floor

    8. Exercise and the Pelvic Floor

Welcome back to Tales From the Floor, where we will be talking about all things pelvic floor physiotherapy! In our second last episode, my team of pelvic floor physiotherapists and I are focusing on boot camps, barbells, running, and your pelvic floor! There is a conundrum of misinformation out there on women and exercise and we are here to clear up the confusion for you.

Today, we will touch on exercise during and after pregnancy. As pelvic floor physiotherapists, we help moms-to-be and new moms tailor their exercise programs to their individual situations and determine what kind of exercise is right for them. Pregnancy and giving birth doesn’t mean you can’t exercise; it just means that changes might have to be made to your normal routine. Our moms, however, aren’t the only ones who leak or experience pelvic pain and pressure while exercising. In this episode, we’ll also share some of the things we do to help any woman whose pelvic floor is uncomfortable during a workout. Last but not least, we’ll share some signs or symptoms that most likely indicate you should stop your workout. It’s important to remember that you should stop any exercises that cause your pelvic floor any pain or discomfort, whether you’re pregnant or not. Keep listening as we discuss exercise and the pelvic floor and join us on Facebook and Instagram at @talesfromthefloor and @abodyinmotionrehab. 7. Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy and Pediatrics: Taking Care of Our Littles

Welcome back to Tales From the Floor, where we will be talking about all things pelvic floor physiotherapy! Today, my team of pelvic floor physiotherapists and I will be focusing on how we take care of the littles in our lives. Oftentimes, people are surprised to hear that we treat children, but it’s important to remember that, no matter how old we are, we all have a pelvic floor, including kids.

That’s why, in this episode, we’ll cover topics like bed wetting, poop leaks, daytime pee leaks and much more. We’ll also touch on constipation as well as the role genetics play in bed wetting. As we know, kids aren’t as quick to get to the bathroom as adults and we’ll share what we as pelvic physiotherapists do to help kids who are struggling with incontinence (just to note, treatments for children are always external and never internal). Keep listening to hear about how pelvic physiotherapy can help your kids develop a stronger pelvic floor and join us on Facebook and Instagram at @talesfromthefloor and @abodyinmotionrehab.

In this episode, my team of pelvic floor physiotherapists and I are here to break down a very large topic: pelvic pain! By the end of this podcast we hope that you’ll know what to do if you or someone dear to you is suffering from pelvic pain.

There are many types of pelvic pain and while we won’t get to cover all of them today, we will be talking about ones that we feel are pretty important and need to be discussed, including endometriosis. Over 500,000 Canadian girls and women are affected by endometriosis, however in Canada, there is usually a delay of more than five years before a diagnosis is determined and that’s why we are here to help educate you! We’ll touch on the symptoms of this painful disorder and what we can do as pelvic floor physiotherapists to help manage your pain. We’ll also talk about fibroids, painful bladder syndrome, what can be done to reduce symptoms associated with this, and much more.
