A familiar voice
Excellent readings from a talented actor. I’m really glad I found this podcast. It’s perfect for relaxing and for jogging at night.
You Won’t Regret It
I certainly won’t be able to achieve an equal level of eloquence or quality of this podcast in this review, but to keep it short and simple, it’s excellent. In more detail, listening to an episode of it feels like being a kid again, sitting with your favorite comic/book/magazine as a warm ray of sunlight shines on you, as if you have nowhere to be but in the world the story inhabits. It’s familiar and new at the same time. Try it, you’ll like it.
Soothing And Provocative
Levar’s cadence is legendary and he’s been reading for us since we were young. It’s lovely to listen to him now as an adult and his selections are powerful and illuminating. I really love that he highlights women, women of color, men of color, LGBTQIA authors, and those of color, and international works.
I’d love to hear Mr. Burton read The Garden of Forking Paths by Jorge Borges from the short story collection Ficciones. A group of friends and I have been covering the works of Borges in a weekly book club and have said several times that it would be delightful to hear him read any of the many fantastic stories of Borges.
