Musician and producer Pharrell Williams concludes our series of interviews at the Mademoiselle Privé Tokyo exhibition. He reveals his fascination with great ideas to Monocle’s editor-in-chief, Tyler Brûlé, and explains why technology can never match the romance and power of a story told by artists and craftsmen.

Korean-American actress and DJ Soo Joo Park explains to Monocle’s editor-in-chief, Tyler Brûlé, how a multicultural upbringing and education helped her to master Chanel’s codes and her fascination when seeing them being revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard season after season.

As the exhibition opens, actress and model Ayami Nakajo talks to Brûlé about why she thinks there are such strong links between French and Japanese cultures.

Film-maker Sofia Coppola has strong ties with both Chanel and Japan. She is perhaps best known for her Tokyo-based 2003 film ‘Lost In Translation’ in which Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson befriend each other as they find themselves lost and lonely in the Japanese capital. As Coppola tells Monocle’s Tyle Brûlé, her relationship with Chanel began when she was 15, during a summer internship in Paris.
