Whistleblower David McBride to be sentenced
Former military lawyer David McBride will know today if - and indeed for how long - he will go to jail, when a Supreme Court judge in Canberra sentences him for leaking classified information to the media.
David McBride's solicitor Mark Davis says whistleblower protections have "turned into a fantasy". McBride is expected to appeal if, he's sent to prison.

China increases pursuit of alleged fugitives abroad
In the past decade, China has ramped up its efforts to return alleged fugitives across the globe to face justice in the country.
Not-for-profit human rights organisation Safeguard Defenders revealed more than 280 cases of foreign citizens and residents have been repatriated to China, 16 of these cases were from Australia between 2014 and 2023.
