Steve Sacks

Thoughtful, informative and fun!

I’m a long-term Democrat who never thought I’d be listening regularly to, let alone reviewing, a podcast whose contributors I didn’t know before and still frequently disagree with. But Sarah Isgur, Jonah Goldberg, Steve Hayes and the other Dispatch folks discuss most of the news I care about most, with well-reported information, deep background and analysis, and the good humor which is usually required to listen to an hour’s worth of news without getting really depressed. They obviously enjoy each other’s company, even (especially?) when they disagree with each other, which is inspiring and encouraging. And then there’s the “Not Worth Your Time” segment, which cracks me up. Highly recommended to serious listeners across the political and cultural spectrum!

Great insight, beyond partisanship

This is the most common sense politics podcast out there. So many podcasts, especially “conservative” leaning, veer into emotional partisanship, populist appeals, and silly culture wars fights, but the Dispatch staff stick to basics, such as the ballooning U.S. debt and the need to support Ukraine. And they rightly condemn corruption on both sides of the aisle.

Great informed discussion

Really serious look at current events. Rivals the Bulwark podcasts in information and insight
