I'm surprised not to see more reviews, but anyway, speaking as a non-expert, this shines a visible (and essential) light on the rather opaque legal system. I knew absolutely nothing about standing, jurisdiction, safe harbor, or even most of the essential formalities of the legal system in bringing cases to court. I was not a heavy watcher of Law and Order, Perry Mason, etc. but evidently TV drama don't educate their watchers all that well about the formalities or the language of the court. (So much for entertainment.) I always liked Columbo because I have a scientific sort of mind, but I begin to wonder how his work would even fair in the system we have when it gets to the court. (Obviously, it was always idealized, as most investigators, as well as defense and prosecution, are probably far too overworked to do the job needed.) Anyway, I begin to appreciate why law, justice, and morality can be in such tension. It is easier to understand why sometimes "the law" does not amount too justice and leaves us all in a moral quandary where we feel the system is a joke. At the same time, David and Sarah give me hope because they explain so well how the system works. So I also get to see where the justice system shines too. This podcast makes you think, but I would say that it is worth the time to listen to their analysis. It's lowered my blood pressure a few times, so I really look forward to hearing from them before I open my own mouth.
