    Mexican-American Movie Essentials + Movie Review: Transformers One + Trailer Park:  Magpie

    In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Mike shares his list of movies that are essential to celebrate Mexican-American life. He shares the stories that were most impacted on his life and represented what it was like for him growing up and struggles he had to face as a 1st generation American. In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Transformers One. It’s an animated origin story about how Optimus Prime and Megatron went from being best friends to mortal enemies.  It starts out before they were Transformers and before they were even known by those names. It’s about a family who gets invited to spend a whole weekend in a lonely home in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they'll soon realize that the family who invited them has a dark side lying inside them. Mike shares how the movie did with a $15 million dollar budget, why James McAvoy is an underrated actor and whether or not you need to see this movie in theaters or wait for it to stream at home.  In the Trailer Park, Mikes shares how he is excited for someone to finally have a biopic that breaks the mold.     Mike and Kelsey are back for Movies of the Month for August. They each share the Best and Worst movie they saw and discuss the close to the summer blockbuster season, Blake Lively's celebrity status vs. acting career and a coming of age movie that stirred up some of their childhood traumas. In the Movie Review, Mike and Kelsey talk about Sing Sing starring Colman Domingo. He plays a man who was Imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. He finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men. Mike and Kelsey talk about how the movie packed an emotional punch to the gut. But strange things happen, and their dream vacation turns into a nightmare.  Mike shares how he feels about it as Zoë Kravitz directorial debut, the unique cast and the main issue he had where he felt the movie fell flat.
