SELF care-ISH: A Show About You

Welcome to self care-ish. A podcast about divorce, dating, the decision to not-date, and just doing-you. The goal for this series is to defy some of the social stigmas and hurdles people face when they make bold decisions that say ‘ok, I deserve this’. Whether it is to leave a relationship, quit a job, take a leap of faith and move overseas, or even being brave enough to tell friends and family ‘no’ when you’re at capacity and need time for you. And being totally okay with that.

Why I Went Sober (& Why I Drink Now)

Why is everyone going sober these days? I don’t have a definitive answer but what I CAN do is tell you about my own sobriety journey as a non-sober person. Yes, I want to be straight-up with you about the fact I do drink occasionally now. But in order to get to here, I had to go through a very very long stint of sobriety. So I do feel qualified to speak about this overall movement that’s happening where people who wouldn’t normally consider themselves alcoholics opt to go sober. This episode is also for the woman who slid into my DMs asking about my experiences when I was sober. Are you here because you’ve heard of The Plotline© journal? ‘They Tried To Ruin My Life’: Surviving Stalking With Author Nicole Madigan

Nicole Madigan is a journalist who found herself at the mercy of a stalker after going through a painful divorce. She met a great guy, started dating him and then the messages would start. Over years she would be sent hundreds of viscous personal attacking texts calling her a ‘rat’ abusing her swearing at her. Threatening her. And even going so far as to contact her family, friends, AND her ex husband. It’s all documented in her book ‘Obsession” A journalist And Victim-Survivor's Investigation Into Stalking And when i say it’s a gripping read, I mean it. 'Where Have All The Divorce Ranches Gone?' With Creator Mel 'That Weird Girl' Zee

Damn this episode is all over the shop mostly because it’s an interview with a creator I’ve been following for a long time. Her name’s Mel Zee, she’s also known as Sorry I Brought It Up on TikTok.  Which seems to be where you find a lot of the most talented humans these days.  Mel’s talent? Staring down the barrel of her camera lens and just dropping megawatt truth and weird pop culture bombs into your algorithm.  Whether she’s talking about dealing with anger (that we need to normalise being angry, especially as women), or dating faux woke guys, or pondering the nuances of the OJ Simpson trial.  And it is a fucking talent. And she’s blowing up because of it. But I invited her on this season to speak about one topic in particular: divorce ranches.
