Takanori Gomi, also known as "The Fireball Kid," is a retired Japanese mixed martial artist who was born on September 22, 1978, in Kanagawa, Japan. He began his professional MMA career in 1998, and quickly made a name for himself as a skilled striker with knockout power in both his punches and kicks.

Gomi competed in various MMA organizations throughout his career, including Shooto, PRIDE, and the UFC. He was a former Shooto lightweight champion and won the PRIDE lightweight championship in 2005 by defeating Hayato Sakurai.

Throughout his career, Gomi was known for his aggressive fighting style and knockout power, with 13 of his 35 wins coming by knockout. He had notable wins over fighters such as Jens Pulver, Tyson Griffin, and Duane Ludwig.

Gomi retired from MMA in 2018 after a long and successful career. He left behind a legacy as one of Japan's greatest MMA fighters and a fan favorite for his exciting fighting style and willingness to engage in stand-up battles.
