    Leighton Smith Podcast Episode 63 - May 13th 2020

This week we thought it would be a good opportunity to talk at length with Barry Soper, Newstalk ZB Political Editor. We had a wide ranging discussion on the government, the opposition, the upcoming election, and of course, the virus.
We followed that up with Sir Roger Douglas, who in conjunction with Professor Robert MacCulloch, is producing study papers on the current crisis. “The March Towards Poverty”.
We respond to some listener comments. There is some restlessness afoot.
    And, of course, your correspondence.

great grandmother! ,

Leighton Smith.

As an 88year old woman, I enjoyed your morning programmes immensely and was devastated when I heard you were giving up! I can now listen to your podcasts and am over the moon, as no other programme seems to fit the bill. Your subjects are always interesting ,thought provoking and a delight to listen to. The teaching profession shot themselves in the foot when they brought in compulsory retraining programming for former teachers wishing to get back into work, meaning time often away from home and at a cost of several hundred dollars. There are so many trained teachers who could have returned except for this barrier. I am married to a former teacher and two daughters are also trained teachers, so know what I am talking about. We also have a granddaughter and her husband currently teaching. One daughter, aged 65yrs.currently helps out on a voluntary basis at her local school as she has extra qualifications for remedial reading etc. she possibly would have been available to return to the classroom when her husband died 4yrs ago but had not kept up her registration so was not eligible. Yet her expertise is being used without payment,!!
The nursing profession went through the same scenario a few years ago when they ended the Nurse Aid training.
Now we are seeing the results. Enough said! Keep up the good work and thank you. “Great grandmother “

Marijuana

Leighton believes all drug users are losers. Sorry artists and good people of the world that use marijuana to ease your pains or help you relax.

Leighton,

I’m just wondering what your thoughts are about the most successful and most popular podcaster in the world, in Joe Rogan of course, being a regular marijuana smoker. How can it be possible that a highly movitavted, funny, interesting and successful person smokes marijuana. More successful and more popular than you of course by millions.

Of course you believe that all drug users are losers and marijuana leads to smoking crack, so when is Mr Rogan going to turn into a down and out crack head Leighton.

Just proved you wrong... again.

Glenn
