Great insight into modern culture wars

I really enjoyed listening to this well produced podcast by Megan Phelps Roper. It is not really a podcast about JK Rowling as much as it is about the cultural context of the controversy behind her. The author and the producers go to great lengths to explain the origins of the societal movement that has gained a lot of momentum and turned against JK Rowling back in 2020 after her tweets, while providing listeners with a proper introduction to the personal side of Harry Potter’s books and explaining her convictions. The podcast also gives a fascinating historical overview of the witch hunts and its parallels with the social media. While I do not think MPR is entirely objective given her personal story (that is also briefly explained), I think she is one of the very few people to give both sides a very fair treatment and carefully listen to opposing views, allowing readers to decide for themselves. Overall I can warmly recommend this podcast to everyone who is tried of anger and hatred, like the one on Twitter, and is willing to be taken on a fascinating adventure of discovery and bubble piercing. Five stars.
