Episode 32: Thor Was a Lovely Bride & Loki His Bridesmaid

Episode 32: Thor Was a Lovely Bride & Loki His Bridesmaid

We’re all familiar with Norse mythology, but did you know that one fantastic story about Thor’s wedding to a Giant? Yes, Thor was a lovely bearded bride and Loki was his manly maiden who couldn’t stop laughing. Since this is Norse mythology, it still ends with massive amounts of carnage, but before the blood starts to flow, let’s enjoy Thor’s big day with his buddy Loki. We’ll also discuss Loki’s often overlooked and pivotal role in arming and protecting the Aesir. It’s only when they kill his children and torture him that he seeks revenge.

Our Fantastically Terrible Character or Creature this week is Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir. We all know it’s the mightiest weapon forged in mythology, but did you know that it was also a holy object? Capable of blessing, consecrating and even banishing the forces of chaos in the universe! Does that make Thor a type of cosmic pope?

Great Episode on The Shining

Love the conversations. Very details, nuanced, and in depth.

The conversation about The Shining was incredible relating to the native Americans and bison was something I had no clue about.

Great podcast!

Not As Nerdy As You’d Expect (But Still Nerdy)

Suzy and Miguel are great to listen to. I haven’t watched as much content as them, and haven’t always watched the shows they discuss. However, their commentary intertwines history, society, and logic. The shows they analyze are just a starting point for the conversation.

They also have amazing voices for audio!
