Bobby Bostic. 241 Years to Freedom

Bobby Bostic. 241 Years to Freedom

*Note: the audio can get pretty rough in this episode. Really sorry about that.*

Bobby Bostic was just 16 years old in 1995 when he committed two robberies where thankfully no serious injuries occurred. Still, Bobby Bostic was sentenced to 241 years in prison by Judge Eveyln Baker with no opportunity for parole until Bobby turns 112 years old."If I knew then what I know now... I wouldn't have given him 241 years. But I didn't know then what I know now. When I sentenced Bobby, we had no knowledge of brain development... He was still a child. His brain had another 10 or more years to go before it was fully developed. I treated a 16 year old child like a 36 year old man and I say that is wrong." - Judge Evelyn Baker almost 25 years after sentencing Bobby Bostic.

Miraculously, Bobby continued to work and hope until the world heard his story. Today he is free after 27 years of incarceration to tell his story to the audience of West Coast Radio. A story of resilience, hard work, discipline, and above all hope.

Bobby is the author of many books which you can find on Amazon. Titles include, "Life Goes on Inside Prison", "Dear Mama: The Life and Struggles of a Single Mother" & "Time: Endless Moments in Prison".

Jordan Hanssen: The Man Who Rows

Jordan Hanssen: The Man Who Rows

West Coast Radio welcomes a true waterman, Jordan Hanssen to the program. Jordan has rowed across the ocean a number of times, but for the purposes of this interview we’ll focus on two of those ocean crossing odysseys. The first, when Jordan along with his 3 other teammates, broke a Guinness world record rowing from New York to England while literally starving. The second, an almost completed row from Africa to Miami, where Jordan and his team ended up on Dateline NBC.

Many of the stories in this interview can be examined in detail by reading Jordan’s Book; 'Rowing Into the Son: Four Young Men Crossing the North Atlantic' and also by watching Dateline NBC's special on Jordan's attempted row from Africa to Miami called, "Capsized".

Destined for Greatness

I have had the pleasure of being a listener of the show as well as a guest. I can tell you that in both instances I do not want the show to end and am excited to hear what Matthew comes up with next. The questions he asked me were very original and unique and diversified and it made for a great experience as a guest and for the listeners as well. I enjoy his interviews as well as his solo stuff. I like hearing his opinions on stuff so much I even had him as a guest on my show! If you’re new to the show check out our episode - #76, I think it’s with best one-
