Getting Out of Your Own Head In Session with Laura Goldstein, LCMFT

Getting Out of Your Own Head In Session with Laura Goldstein, LCMFT

In this episode of Beginner's Mind, I am joined by Laura Goldstein, a LCMFT in private practice in Rockville, MD. Laura is sharing with us an experience she had as a therapist in training where her supervisor gave her some feedback on the affect she had in session. Laura shares how the affect she was feeling in that session was rooted in her own process as a therapist in training rather than the client's experience and what they were sharing with her. We talk about making mistakes as a therapist and how Laura's transparency with clients about her own imperfection allows her clients to be more vulnerable in session.

Stephanie Durborough ,

Loving this podcast!

This podcast is so encouraging and educational for therapists in training. Her topics are very applicable to the season we are in. Her conversations are also very encouraging! Thank you for this work!

Jackie S Patton ,

THANK YOU

Taylor has really hit the nail on the head here for something that is SO needed for beginners in our field. Honest, genuine, thought provoking, and empowering conversations between real life experts + therapists in training. This should be required listening for all therapists in training! I only wish I had this perspective to balance out the modeling + learning I received early on in grad school. I cannot wait to continue to grow through further episodes!!!
