Tom is the head of the kinesiology department at Butler University and received his PhD from Indiana University.
His research interests are centered on the application of kinesiology theory and concepts to practitioner-based settings such as therapy, coaching and strength & conditioning. His expertise is in skill acquisition, sport psychology and coaching and regularly publishes research in these areas

Transforming Basketball w/ Alex Sarama
On today’s episode, I’m joined by Alex Sarama! Alex is a 2x guest on the show and appeared on the podcast way back in Episode 33!
Since that episode, Alex’s life has changed quite a bit. he found it a company called Transforming Basketball, which is seeking to change the way that basketball is coached. He is also the Director of methodology with London Lyons in England, and also works with the Rip City remix, the G league affiliate team for the Portland, Trailblazers of the NBA.
On top of all of that, Alex has a brand new book that just dropped on April 9 called Transforming Basketball, Where he takes coaches through a modern approach, to skill acquisition, and how to apply it to basketball.
In this conversation, we talk about many useful topics for coaches, including:
How to upgrade traditional basketball drills into a live movement activities,How to adjust your system, or principles of play to new athletes How Alex’s experience is experience, coaching in different settings across the world, has shaped his coaching lens

Nick is a teacher and soccer coach in Bentonville, Arkansas, USA.
He is he coach at Sporting AR 2007G Coach and the assistant varsity coach at Bentonville High School for the girls team.
Nick has over 18 years of coaching experience including Socorro High School Boys Asst, Grassroots in Socorro, various levels, New Mexico Tech girls(college club) Qiziltepa Mahalla boys(UZ).
He played soccer at FC Haka B1/B2 Finland and Drury University in Missouri.

Dr. Wilson an Ecological Psychologist and a researcher at Leeds Beckett University in the UK
He is an internationally recognised expert in perception, action and embodied cognition.
He gained his PhD in Psychology and Cognitive Science from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2005. His research interests are broadly in the area of perception and action, with a particular interest in learning and theories of embodied cognition.
On this episode, we dive into the world of affordances and what they mean in the both the sports world and in real life situations.
