Winton Higgins on his novel, ‘Love Death Chariot of Fire’

News from Tuwhiri Podcast

Welcome to the very first episode of The Tuwhiri Project Podcast. In this episode, Winton Higgins and Ramsey Margolis, both members of Tuwhiri’s editorial board, discuss Winton’s new novel, Love, death, chariot of fire.

A novel that tells the story of the last ten years in the life of Reg Mitchell, the man who designed the well-known Spitfire fighter plane, and who finds out he’s terminally ill just when his country, his family, and everything he holds dear face the prospect of invasion by Nazi Germany.

Three years after Mitchell’s death, when Spitfires battled the Luftwaffe, they carried a very personal message from Mitchell for the Nazi chieftains: a message about decency, according to Winton, and one that’s worth recalling now.

This novel is published by Brandl & Schlesinger on 1 June 2020, and will be available as a paperback and in digital formats.
