History and many stories of Choti Diwali

Choti Diwali, also known as Naraka Chaturdashi, holds a special place in Indian traditions and Hindu culture. Celebrated a day before the main Diwali, this day symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, inner purification, and the importance of cleanliness. Its roots trace back to the story of Lord Krishna’s victory over the demon Narakasura, who had terrorized people and imprisoned many. With Narakasura’s defeat, righteousness was restored, and this victory is celebrated as Naraka Chaturdashi. On this day, people purify themselves with a sacred oil bath called Abhyanga Snan, believed to cleanse sins and bring positivity. Homes are decorated with rangolis and lamps to ward off negativity and invite prosperity. Many also light ‘Yam Deep’ to seek protection from untimely death. Beyond its religious significance, Choti Diwali encourages cleanliness and preparation for auspicious beginnings, spreading the message of positivity, renewal, and prosperity.
