EXEMPLIFYING FAITH | Growing Faith

The series Exemplifying Faith continues with another sermon, "Growing Faith," a story of how Moses's faith brings him and the Israelites out of Egypt. This week, Pastor Joy explains how we can grow our faith daily. Once we become Christian and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we think that "nothing can shake us", we stop there and we do not exercise our faith further. Faith reveals itself in action, in our daily choices, we either trust what God says or we are left to trust our own instincts and understanding. As believers, we must remember that God’s way is the way of faith then we can choose Him every single time. Another action that can help us to grow our faith is obeying God and trusting Him despite circumstances, consequences, and uncertainty because we know who God is. He is a promises keeper, and He is a powerful God. Every struggle we faced is an opportunity to practice our faith and a chance where we can show God that we depend on Him alone. Moses' acts of faith start with believing in God whom he must follow, his faith then saved the life of the firstborn of the Israelites and finally took the Israelites through the Red Sea. The experience of Moses is proof that faith is a complete trust in and obedience to God. Obeying God’s command and trusting that God did indeed have power over life and death.

EXEMPLIFYING FAITH | Faith over fear

The series exemplifying faith continues with the story of Moses's parents' faith while in the terror of the Pharao. This week Pastor Joy entitled the sermon "Faith Over Fear." Pastor Joy discusses how we can keep our faith and trust in God, despite the fear of this world. True, godly faith is defined as trust, relying on God when looking to the future, and obeying even when we don't fully understand all the details. When anxiety, worry, and fear enter our minds, and if we let it take over our lives, it will limit us to do the things that we are meant to do. Instead of letting fear take control, we must choose God and let God take control and trust in His intent to make good on His promises. In this reality, fear will always be around but remember Jesus said, "In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Faith is an action word. Faith is active, not passive. In the struggles that we face and will be facing, choose faith, and have confidence in God's promises though we could not know, this time, exactly what would happen, but we know that it is more important to trust and obey God than to live in fear.

EXEMPLIFYING FAITH | Courageous Faith

This week the series continues with another sermon, "Courageous Faith," focusing on the story of Gideon, from weakness to greatness. Pastor Obed explains how God can shape us from a weak, doubtful, inexperienced, and afraid individual into a strong and faithful servant of God when we are willing to take one step of faith at a time. We often have situations in life that offer comfort, making us rather stay in one place and not step out of our comfort zone. Maybe jobs that provide enough income or opportunities in leadership roles or ministry roles at church that we would rather not fill ourselves in because we are comfortable staying as church attendees, or we feel like we are not qualify yet for the role despite encouragement from others. However, the story of Gideon gives us an encouragement to face our doubts and insecurities and to obey and trusting God's calling. God can work through anyone, despite our flaws. He can use our imperfections as long as we trust Him and rely on Him. We just have to "hold fast" to our faith, and anticipate how God's power able to give victory even in impossible circumstances. Gideon at first did not see himself the way God saw him and responded to God’s call with fear and doubt. But his decision not to settle in his situation gives us an inspiring example to follow and teaches us that God can do a lot with a few small steps of faith. God will patiently work with us. All we must do is be willing to act on faith anyway and take one small step forward at a time, even while we are afraid, and He will do the rest.

EXEMPLIFYING FAITH | Worship of Faith

The series of Exempliying Faith continued with a sermon titled "Worship by Faith" a story about Abel's worthy sacrifice. This week, Pastor Joy reminded us that faith is the foundation of worship. Faithfully worshipping God means trusting and obeying Him that He will make things good on His promises, even when that fulfilment is yet "unseen" to us. Have you been in a situation where you know that the good things in your life were gifts from God’s hand and you know what God's instructions and words are, but somehow you doubt what God has promised because if you follow it, your comfortable life will get compromised thus in the end you would not listen and lead on your own terms. But faith is formed and fed by the Word of God, and we must let our minds and hearts be shaped by what God has said. Since we believe in His word, we are able to trust Him and obey Him. We can not come to God on our own terms. We must remember that the way to God is to come to Him by faith. Abel believed what God said. He did not rest on his own opinion. He put his offering on the altar and trusting God, and God honoured His obedience. So the next time you worship God by offering, remember to give in Faith and to trust the fulfilment of His promises even though it seems distant.

EXEMPLIFYING FAITH | Walk of faith

This week, the series continues with the story of Enoch. The sermon this time is titled "Walk of Faith." Pastor Mark Ducusin discusses the life of Enoch, the man of faith whose life was well-pleasing in the eyes of God. So what does a life that is pleasing to God look like? Hebrews make it very clear that the life that is pleasing to God is a life lived by faith. We must live our lives based on trusting, obeying, and depending on God. Remembering that He is in control of everything in this world. Not only must we live our lives by faith, but we must also walk with God Himself, in and out of our spiritual community. Staying in right fellowship with God by dwelling in prayer, meditating on His words, and transcending those into everyday real life. In our daily lives, we will encounter situations and people from different backgrounds, and we must stand firm, reflect, and walk in the ways of Christ. The life of Enoch displays not only how it is that we come to please God but also what the reward is for those who live and seek God by faith. The reward is God Himself. While we have already begun to experience the joy of that relationship with Him now by way of our union with Christ, the fullness of our reward is something we must continue to seek by faith. Those who seek will not only please God in this life, but they will enjoy the greatest reward of all: the pleasure of walking with God.

EXEMPLIFYING FAITH | From harlot to hero.

The series "Exemplifying Faith" continues with another story of a Bible character named Rahab. Rahab's faith saved her and her family from destruction, and by faith, she made the choice to put her life at risk by protecting God's people. This week, Brother Mark Baranda, reminded us that by trusting God, holding on to His words and promises, we can turn our fear into courage and our despair into hope. All by the grace and mercy of God. In the world that we live in, we are caught in uncertainty and the unknown. We are faced with choices every day. We stumble at times, we fall, and we never get back up. Instead of looking back to God, we lean on our own understanding. We felt so helpless and decided to take matters into our own hands. But as we look back on our spiritual journey with Christ, we must always remember who God is and what he can do. Our God is gracious and He is able to reach down and save the most unlikely person, even someone who is deemed hopelessly lost, as long as we own our failures and repent. Remember Rahab's faith in God. She didn't have the spiritual advantages we have. She had no Scriptures, no teachers, and no fellowship; she lived in a vile pagan city, yet she made a bold decision that benefited many. She knew little about God, but she decided to trust Him completely and God honored her faith beyond what she hoped for. May we learn to trust God as much as she did and to cast our hope in a God we can't see rather than the world we can see.

EXEMPLIFYING FAITH | Unsinkable Faith

The series Exemplifying Faith continues with another sermon “Unsinkable Faith”, looking at the example of Noah. This week pastor Joy shows us ways to help us have that confidence in God to press on in our own faith.  Walking with God is a daily process of growing more intimate with Him as you share everything in your life with Him and learn more of His ways. In the world order, seeing is believing. Unless it is visual, doubt remains as to its reality. But this is not the way it is in the Kingdom of God. Faith triumphs.  The key ingredient of faith is when we trust God completely, the manifestation of it is obedience. Because Noah feared and respected God, he built the ark as God told him to do. We cannot say we fear and respect God and yet disobey Him.  Steadfast obedience to God over time within difficult and incomprehensible circumstances, despite the opposition and rejection of others is what we need to strengthen our faith. Noah's unwavering trust in God, his diligent obedience and his endurance to wait on God serve as powerful reminders of the importance of faith in the Christian life. It’s challenged us to strive and to live as men and women of faith like Noah.  So remember that our God is a faithful God, and what He promised would come to pass, we just need to obey Him and hold on to His promises.

FRIENDS FOREVER

This week, in celebration of Friends Day, Pastor Joy's sermon speaks just about that, Forever Friends, Jesus as our eternal friend and the significant role of a friend. This time, we looked into the story of Zacchaeus and his encounter with Jesus. Think about a friend you know that is lonely, that may be one friendship away from meeting Jesus. For sure you have that one friend. That person might be one friend away from a changed eternity and you might be that friend whom bring them closer to God. Jesus wanted to have a real relationship with us. He has come to seek out and save the lost. He invites himself into our life using the people around us, He is knocking and longing to be let into our hearts and our lifes. And all we need to do is to open that door and received Him and the salvation that He has offer us. Zacchaeus is not sinless or righteous, but Jesus invites himself in because He knows that he is what Zacchaeus has been searching for. And just like him, Jesus wants to be friend with all of us and He promise to find us, even if we are trying to hide in a tree.
