It's the second part of our post-summer catchup episode! Theatre journalist Lisa Martland joins Andrew to discuss Top Hat (Chichester Festival Theatre), The Lightning Thief (Milton Keynes Theatre, UK Tour), Six (Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, UK Tour), Sing Street (Lyric Theatre Hammersmith), Saving Mozart (The Other Palace) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Bridge Theatre). Andrew and Lisa also talk about their favourite Sondheim shows. Having spent many years at The Stage – including five years as Deputy Editor – Lisa Martland is a theatre journalist who has worked for theatrical publications such as Musical Stages, Musicals Magazine, Stage Faves and My Theatre Mates. S9 Ep32: Jack Wolfe, Gabe in Next To Normal

Olivier nominee Jack Wolfe is currently starring as Gabe in the UK premiere of Next To Normal. Following an acclaimed, sold-out run at the Donmar Warehouse, Michael Longhurst’s production has transferred to the West End for a limited run at the Wyndham’s Theatre. Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey’s musical premiered on Broadway in 2010, winning three Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. For his performance as Gabe, Jack won Best Supporting Performer at the WhatsOnStage Awards and Most Promising Newcomer at The Critics Circle Theatre Awards. He was also nominated for Best Emerging Talent at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards and Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Olivier Awards. Jack’s theatre credits include Peter in The Magician’s Elephant (RSC), The Snow Queen (Rose Theatre Kingston), The Musician (The Belfast Ensemble), Sweeney Todd (Lyric Theatre Belfast) and Pinocchio (National Theatre). Aimée Fisher and George Crawford are In The Frame! Real-life couple Aimée and George are currently performing alongside eachother in the West End production of The Great Gatsby at the London Coliseum. They're both in the ensemble, with Aimée playing Gilda Grey whilst covering Myrtle and George covering both Nick and Gatsby. Aimée's theatre credits include Les Miserables (Sondheim Theatre), Wicked (Apollo Victoria), Elf (Dominion) and Groundhog Day (Old Vic). George has been in The Book of Mormon (UK Tour), Newsies (Troubadour Wembley Park), Spend Spend Spend (Royal Exchange) and Forever Plaid (Upstairs at the Gatehouse). Aimée and George first met when they both performed in the UK & Ireland tour of Waitress; Aimee covered Jenna and Dawn whilst George played Ogie. Tony winner Laura Benanti is In The Frame! Joanna Woodward is reprising her performance as Ulla in The Producers. Following its sold out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, The Producers has transferred to the West End for a run at the Garrick Theatre. Joanna is starring alongside Andy Nyman and Marc Antolin in Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan's show. Joanna recently starred as Clare in The Time Traveller’s Wife (Apollo Theatre & Storyhouse Chester). She previously appeared in the Menier's production of Merrily We Roll Along in addition to understudying some major roles in the West End, including Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman (Piccadilly & Savoy Theatres) and Carole King in Beautiful (Aldwych Theatre). Some of Joanna's other theatre credits include: Mary in The Life (Southwark Playhouse), Margaret in Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be (Theatre Royal Stratford East) and Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Kilworth House Theatre). S10 Ep48: Solomon Davy, star of The Code, Grease & Hairspray

Solomon Davy is playing Chad Manford in the UK premiere of The Code by Michael McKeever. The play is running at Southwark Playhouse Elephant, with Solomon starring alongside Tracie Bennett and John Partridge. The Code unfolds over a fictional yet hauntingly plausible cocktail hour that quickly spirals into a tense psychological battleground — where fame, identity, and survival hang by a thread. After training at The Wilkes Academy, Solomon burst into the industry making his West End debut as Kenickie in Grease at the Dominion Theatre. He also played Christian in Clueless’ pre-West End showcase run in Bromley and toured the UK as Link in Hairspray. Solomon has performed pantomimes in Wimbledon, Bristol and Woking. Recorded during rehearsals, in this episode Solomon discusses all-things The Code as well as why Wilkes Academy was the right place for him to train, his relationship with singing and how things have changed for him quickly over the past couple of years. S9 Ep49: Jordan Frazier, star of Hamilton, I'm Every Woman & You Are Here

Jordan Frazier is In The Frame! Jordan recently completed her run as Angelica in the West End production of Hamilton. After growing up in the US, Jordan spent several years performing on multiple highly acclaimed cruise ships. After moving to London, Jordan was cast as Zahara in the international tour of Bat Out Of Hell. Despite completing rehearsals, sadly the production didn't open due to the Covid-19 theatre shutdown. Jordan starred alongside Wendi Peters as Ruby in You Are Here at the Southwark Playhouse before joining Hamilton as the understudy for all three Schuyler Sisters. She later became the Schuyler Sisters standby and then took over as Angelica full-time. Most recently Jordan has been workshopping the Chaka Khan musical I'm Every Woman, starring as Chaka. Jordan's theatre credits also include: River in In Pieces, Sweet Thang in Nina Simone: Four Women, Lola in Damn Yankees and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Jordan is fluent in Spanish - her Spanish theatre credits include Tiffany in Confessions of Women from East L.A. Jordan has also completed several cruise contracts as a Principal singer. Her screen credits include Ava in Sun Rosè & Romance, Jenny in Love At First Sight (Netflix), Jacquie in Feuds (Disney+), Woman in Power XL (advert) and Toyota Commercial (USA advert). Vinny Coyle is starring as Wild Bill Hickok in Calamity Jane. The production is currently embarking on a UK and Ireland tour with direction by Nikolai Foster and co-direction and choreography by Nick Winston. Based on the Doris Day movie, this production of Calamity Jane last toured ten years ago and features classic songs including The Deadwood Stage (Whip-Crack-Away), The Black Hills of Dakota, Just Blew in from the Windy City and the Oscar-winning Secret Love. Vinny stars opposite Carrie Hope Fletcher in the title role. Vinny recently starred as Johann Baptist zu Sonnenburg in Mozart: Her Story (Theatre Royal Drury Lane) and played Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera (Broadway Italia). S9 Ep48: Elena Skye, Janis in Mean Girls

Elena Skye is playing Janis in the West End production of Mean Girls. Having premiered on Broadway in 2018, Mean Girls opened in London earlier this year. Tina Fey adapted the show from her 2004 film, collaborating with Jeff Richmond who composed the music and Nell Benjamin who wrote the lyrics. The show is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw. Elena made her professional debut as Lauren in the West End production of Kinky Boots (Adelphi Theatre) and went on to play Éponine in the West End production of Les Misérables (Queen’s Theatre). Elena starred as Scaramouche in We Will Rock You, initially on tour before transferring with the show into the West End for a run at the London Coliseum. Last year Elena originated the role of Twiggy in Close Up: The Twiggy Musical at the Menier Chocolate Factory. In this episode, Elena discusses all things Mean Girls, including auditioning for the show, why she wanted to play Janis and how she got to grips with her song "I'd Rather Be Me".
