    198. A Conversation on Collective Grief and Grief Support with Margo Fordonski

For something that touches every one of us, many people still feel grief-illiterate. Whether it's impacting someone close to you or your entire community, it can be difficult to figure out what to say or how to offer support. In light of the recent flooding in Texas, I wanted to have a heartfelt conversation about collective grief, the grieving process, and what it truly means to show up for others in both the short and long term. I’m honored to have my client and Master Coach, Margo Fordonski, join me to offer her wisdom surrounding the grieving process. Margo is a trained grief educator who brings her professional insight and her personal experience with grief to this topic. We discuss how grief affects us individually and collectively, and how we can support one another when the unexpected happens. In this episode, you’ll hear about specific ways to support someone who is grieving, how to offer help in the midst of collective grief, and why it’s never too late to reach out—whether the loss happened recently or many years ago. Grief is hard, and many of us are afraid to say or do the wrong thing. Because of this, we often end up doing nothing at all. However, the more we normalize this universal, human experience, the more we can understand how to navigate grief and to support others.  What you’ll learn: The ripple effects of community tragedy and collective griefWhy every grief experience looks different–and grieving never has a deadlineThree specific tips for how to support someone who is grieving in the early stagesHow to be a steady presence for someone after a loss in the long-termWhy small actions—a text, sharing a photo, using their loved one’s name—can help support someone who is grieving You can read the full show notes here. About Margo Fordonski Margo Fordonski is a Master Certified Life Coach, Certified Grief Educator, and a twice-bereaved parent. After losing both of her children—most recently her son Andrew, who lived with brain cancer for 24 years—Margo has walked the long, complex path of grief firsthand. Her personal journey led her to a powerful calling: to support other mothers navigating life after the unthinkable. Margo helps grieving moms find peace, resilience, and renewed hope—not by “moving on,” but by learning how to carry their grief with love. Her 1:1 coaching approach is deeply personalized, meeting each mother where she is with compassionate guidance and tools that support nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and holistic healing. She guides her clients in healing at their own pace, rediscovering who they are now, and gently rebuilding a life that honors both their child and their continued growth. Her work is trauma-informed, heart-led, and rooted in the belief that grief is not something to fix—it’s something to tend to with care, courage, and support. Through her coaching, writing, and lived witness, Margo offers a safe and understanding space for grieving moms to feel less overwhelmed, more connected to themselves, and begin to rebuild a life that holds both sorrow and joy. 197. The Leadership Model the World Desperately Needs Right Now

In the current state of the world, we have all the information we could need at our fingertips—AI, ChatGPT, and automation are providing answers faster than we can come up with questions. But what's missing is context, meaning, and human connection.  In this episode, I explore what the world is truly missing—and how transformational coaching and emotional intelligence in leadership can help fill the void. Because while we’re flooded with knowledge, we’re starving for wisdom, depth, and integration. We’re experiencing a constant cognitive overload that still leaves us longing for clarity and purpose. If information alone were enough, we’d all have the perfect body, bank account, relationships, and self-esteem. Everybody would feel at peace and achieve all their dreams. But transformation requires more than knowledge. It requires you—your presence, your leadership, your ability to bring the human element back to the world. Today, we’ll discuss how you can create a life and leadership model not based on all-knowing perfection, but on presence and authenticity. We are in a moment of global transition. There are huge transformations happening all around us, and if you have felt called to lead, coach, and help others grow, you might be the exact kind of person the world is waiting for.  What you’ll learn: Why leadership models today need to look radically different from those of the pastWhy coaches and leaders must go beyond the surface-level work we were trained to do and adopt a holistic approachHow research consistently shows that sustainable results come from integration, not informationWhy the world needs healing, kindness, and emotional intelligence in leadership instead of more seemingly perfect peopleHow you can bridge the gap between where people are and where they want to be through transformational coaching and leadership You can read the full show notes here. 195. The Power of No: Say Yes to Alignment, Abundance, and Authenticity

How can a strategic “no” be just as valuable to your business as a “yes”? When you’re growing, it’s easy to feel pressure to say yes to every opportunity, client, and commitment that seems beneficial. But the truth is, saying no to things that are misaligned with your values, short-term temptations, or simply clutter in your life is one of the most powerful tools you have for building your ideal life—and supporting your clients in doing the same. When it comes to leading change in your own life, there are so many small concepts and principles that make the changes you are seeking so much easier, and the power of no is one of them. Think about it–if you're feeling overwhelmed, off-track, or uncertain, the answer likely isn’t doing more, but saying a few bold, intentional nos. These strategic nos are often the difference between burnout and sustainable coaching success. In this episode, we're exploring your willingness and capacity to say no and how doing so can unlock clarity, business alignment, and coaching success. It’s normal to feel some resistance when you begin practicing the power of no. Turning down any opportunity can feel counterintuitive when you’re building a business, but every conscious no creates space for a more meaningful yes. The transformations that you and your clients crave can and will happen when you say no to the things that do not serve your higher purpose. From my own experience and the work I’ve done with clients in Master Coach Training, I know that your greatest gifts, resources, and abilities come to the surface when you are able to boldly claim what you want and back it up with a willingness to say no to things that do not align. You can create the quality of life that you are craving when you start with a strategic “no.” Let's get started! What you’ll learn: An exercise to uncover what’s cluttering your life—and what becomes possible when you build your muscle of saying noThe incredible lessons that we can learn from nature about space and alignmentThree types of no and how to identify them: the misaligned no, the short-term temptation no, and the clutter noA personal story about saying no to a seemingly great opportunity and why it was the most aligned decision I could makeHow to trust yourself to recognize when a yes is truly aligned with your coaching success You can read the full show notes here. 193. Coaching Tools To Stop Sabotaging and Start Receiving

Here's the truth no one talks about: You don't get what you want in life—you get what your nervous system feels safe receiving. Think about it—every client who comes to work with you has something they deeply desire. They've likely tried multiple strategies, taken all the "right" steps, and still aren't seeing results. Whether it's more money, a thriving relationship, or a successful business, the reason their goal remains out of reach often isn't due to a lack of capability or an outside factor–but because their nervous system isn't yet on board. Nervous system regulation is the missing link between your goals and your ability to receive the outcome of your achievement. If you're trying to hustle your way into a vision that your body doesn't feel safe holding, you'll burn out or sabotage. This is why Master Coach Training is such a powerful process for you as a coach, and for the clients you serve.  The nervous system equates "familiar" with "safe"–even if that means staying stuck instead of moving forward. Today, we'll look at what nervous system regulation truly looks like so you can break this pattern, and I'll offer you several coaching tools and strategies that will help you and your clients expand your capacity to receive from a place of safety.  The vision you have for your life and business is powerful, but it can't just be about setting goals. You can want something sincerely, but without nervous system regulation, you will stay stuck. When you have the holistic coaching tools to build safety and open yourself up to receive, real transformation and lasting change are possible—for you and your clients.  What you'll learn: Why true nervous system regulation focuses on helping your body get used to something different Common signs that your nervous system does not feel safe receiving–and what to do about themPractical coaching tools to create safety in the nervous system: somatic anchoring, tapping, and microdosing changeHow to bridge the gap between your vision and the safety you need to achieve itJournal prompts to uncover why it feels unsafe to get what you want You can read the full show notes here. 192. Small Moments, Big Shifts: How Tiny Choices Shape the Life You Want

What’s a big goal that you're working towards right now? Growing your coaching business? Signing more clients or increasing your revenue? Or perhaps it's a personal goal, like improving your quality of life, working less, or focusing more on your relationships. Whatever it is, that big change is possible for you. But even with that vision in mind, you may still struggle to stick with the path of getting there. In this episode, we'll explore the challenges that come with changing your life and how your daily decisions can create lasting change sustainably–one small choice at a time.  When we set out to make changes, we often come up with a big plan of action. However, this can leave us feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or frustrated when we don't progress as quickly as we desire. I want to offer you this: sometimes, doing less and pushing less—while gently bringing daily intention into small moments—is much more powerful than even the biggest, grandest plan.  Today, we'll talk about the trap of grand gestures and why we're drawn to dramatic change in the first place. We explore how inaction often follows those big attempts that fall flat, and the impact of the deeper things that are going on within us. When you combine mindset shifts with an understanding of the nervous system, examining the small choices in your life provides a gentle entry point to transformation with less resistance and greater ease.  Small changes, made in small moments, can truly lead to the greatest shifts. We'll look at this through the lens of you as a business owner, as someone working toward personal growth, and as a coach supporting others through change. When you focus on daily decisions, you create your own step-by-step guide to lasting change—and you learn how to help your clients do the same. What you'll learn:Why small decisions are more sustainable than grand gestures when shaping the life you wantThe nervous system's role in sabotaging big change How energy cost impacts your ability to create lasting changeExamples of small daily decisions and how they build habits that drive transformationWhy the four fundamentals of lasting change are essential to this approach—for both you and your clients You can read the full show notes here.
