BYU Basketball Wants Keba Keita To Help Them Muscle Up In Big 12
The BYU Cougars continue to work on what new basketball coach Kevin Young's roster will look like and a potential big piece entered the NCAA Transfer Portal in former Utah Utes center Keba Keita and Jake Hatch believes the big man would be a welcome addition to the BYU men's basketball roster with his abilities to bolster their frontcourt.
Jake then talked about the addition of Doug Stewart as the new chief of staff for the BYU basketball program and what the hire indicates about the future for KYU at Brigham Young University (BYU), mainly that being that the BYU administration and BYU athletics are investing at a high-level to ensure there isn't any backsliding in the Big 12 Conference.
Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts on the NCAA's pending lawsuit that could see BYU forced to pay upwards of $300 million over a decade as part of the settlement and if the proposed changes with the money having to be sent would be something BYU is willing to pony up for and if it will help them compete better on a national stage. -
BYU Basketball Sticks One To Archrival Utah Utes With Their Chris Burgess Hire
The BYU Cougars got another boost the BYU men's basketball program with their hire of Utah Utes associate head coach Chris Burgess to join Kevin Young's staff at Brigham Young University (BYU), bringing Burgess back to the BYU basketball program after two years on Craig Smith's University of Utah Runnin' Utes staff and Jake is thrilled with the hire.
JT Wistrcill and Jake Hatch then talked about the state of both the Utes and Cougars programs when it comes to the NCAA Transfer Portal as BYU appears to be in better shape despite not a ton of additions yet whereas the Utes have seen their top-end talent exit the program via the transfer portal or graduation and it's not ideal for Utah entering the Big 12 Conference.
Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts on the interest both the BYU football and Utah football programs had in Utah State Aggies quarterback McCae Hillstead and why he ultimately picked Kalani Sitake and the Cougars over Kyle Whittingham and the Utes and what it could portend for BYU as they are joined by Utah in the Big 12 this fall. -
BYU Football Has To Absorb A Danny Sa'ili-Sized Hole Entering Year Two In Big 12
The BYU Cougars saw four players enter the NCAA Transfer Portal on the final day of the spring window being open and the major hit is the loss of recent signee Danny Sa'ili as he exits the program just four months after arriving in Provo and Jake Hatch believes his loss is monumental as compared to those of Ryder Burton, Devin Downing and Chaz Ah You, who also are leaving.
Jake then examined what he is calling the Jaxson Robinson dilemma as the reigning Big 12 Conference Sixth Man of the Year is evaluating what his future will look like, whether that is in the NBA via the NBA Draft, a transfer to join Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats or if new BYU basketball head coach Kevin Young can lure Robinson back to Provo for another run.
Finally, the show wrapped up with a look at a possible settlement by the NCAA and its Power Conferences, including the Big 12, which could lead to the universities having to revenue share with their athletes to the tune of somewhere near $20 million annually and while Jake thinks it's a move in the right direction for college athletics, will it be something Brigham Young University (BYU) and its sponsoring institution, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be game for? -
What Can't Kevin Young Do For BYU Basketball & Big 12 With His Midas Touch?
The BYU Cougars finally have their hoops head man on the job full time as Kevin Young's run with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA is over with their first-round sweep at the hands of Minnesota Timberwolves and despite the near-two weeks of split-attention for the man they're calling "KYU" there has been no downsides to Young's hire as BYU basketball coach.
Jake Hatch then talked about the addition of former Utah State Aggies quarterback McCae Hillstead to the BYU football roster as he announced his commitment out of the NCAA Transfer Portal over the weekend and Jake explains why he is so high on the pint-sized QB due to years of sitting in absolute amazement at his play-making prowess, which he brings to Brigham Young University (BYU), where he will suit up for Kalani Sitake, Aaron Roderick and company in Provo.
Finally, the show wrapped up with a look at the results of the NFL Draft for the BYU football programs as eight former Cougars got NFL opportunities, but only one hearing their name called in the draft with the Kansas City Chiefs selecting Kingsley Suamataia in the second-round and Jake says it shows there is still a stigma around BYU when it comes to the draft. -
BYU Football's NFL Draft Prospects & 1-on-1's With Jack Kelly & Caleb Etienne
The BYU Cougars are awaiting the results of the NFL Draft this weekend and Jake Hatch took some time to talk about the next crop of NFL prospects from the BYU football program with Kedon Slovis and Ryan Rehkow expected to be in the mix as the draft plays out this weekend in Detroit, Michigan.
Jake then talked one-on-one with new BYU linebacker Jack Kelly as the two talked about his transition to Brigham Young University (BYU) after his transfer in from Weber State University and what Jack expects from himself as he suits up for BYU in the Big 12 Conference this fall.
Finally, the show wrapped up with a chat between Jake and offensive tackle Caleb Etienne as the former Oklahoma State Cowboy explained what he was doing this spring as he hopes to entrench himseld at BYU as their possible starting left tackle this fall as he leads BYU into year two of the Big 12. -
BYU Football Set To See Kingsley Suamataia Add To Their NFL Draft Legacy
The BYU Cougars are set to see another crop of the BYU football program hear their names called this weekend with the NFL Draft taking place in Detroit, Michigan and the top prospect from Kalani SItake's program without a doubt is Kingsley Suamataia, who may be down the draft boards aways, but he is set to benefit from a stocked position that should see him cash in.
Jake Hatch then talked about the NCAA Transfer Portal situation for the BYU men's basketball program as Kevin Young goes about remaking the BYU basketball roster as does BYU football coach Kalani Sitake with both programs vying to attract game-changing talent across the board and bring them to Brigham Young University (BYU) this fall.
Finally, the show wrapped up with a chat with BYU cornerback Jakob Robinson, who steps into a leadership role this fall for BYU and says he is ready to make the leap and show that he's really put it all together as he hopes to lead BYU to new heights this fall in their second year of competition in the Big 12 Conference.
