5. The Compassion Revolution - The Key To Saving The Planet And Your Health The Flow Sutra

    • Health & Fitness

Since love is in the air, I thought I'd share my version of love and compassion. Compassion is a revolution that will save our planet and our health! This episode explores Buddhist mythology and several high profile scientific studies conducted on Buddhist monks that revolutionised neuroscience.

Compassion is a trait that can be learned and a skill that can be trained. It is vital for healthcare workers such as nurses to embody these practices to prevent burnout and exhaustion. In the workplace, teams with compassionate leaders are much more likely to be productive and collaborative.

Compassion based meditation produces changes in the brain in as little as 8 hours of practice. This illustrates our biological preparedness for goodness. We are wired to be good and do good because it feels good. Loving-kindness boosts the brains circuitry for joy and happiness. By wishing others well, you actually end up happier.

Compassion is not a luxury anymore. It is vital for our survival on Earth.

As the Dalai Lama said, “The first person to benefit from compassion is the one who feels it”

It’s not god or government that drives morality. It’s in our biology.

We are primed for love. May all beings be free from suffering. May all beings be happy.
