#92 PCOS Fertility Q&A with Dr Sara Norris Thriving with NourishMel Health

    • Health & Fitness

Dr. Sara Norris, ND is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor specializing in women’s health and pediatrics. Dr. Norris brings a fresh, balanced approach to persistent health problems, including hormonal issues, pediatrics, thyroid health, dermatology, digestive disorders, chronic fatigue, and more.

Dr. Norris has practiced in Oregon, Oakland, and Vermont, where there was way too much snow for her liking. She’s held positions on various state boards focused on integrative medicine, and has received multiple awards for her community clinic involvement. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons, and a rescue cat named Itchy Kitty—and she may or may not be learning how to breakdance.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Norris provides lectures for conventional medical and osteopathic doctors on the topic of natural medicine. She is currently working with local universities and the California legislature to help make naturopathic practices available to everyone.

How do you approach women who have been recently diagnosed with PCOS and told that they are unlikely to have a baby?
What can affect fertility when someone has PCOS, aside from anovulation and irregular periods?
What kind of lab tests should a woman get if she's thinking of conceiving later on but just found out she has PCOS?
If someone is in her early 30s and am thinking of conceiving but she has PCOS, when would be a good time to think about freezing her eggs?
If someone has PCOS and is trying to have a kid right now but it's not working, what would you tell her?
How long should someone with PCOS try to have a kid before trying fertility treatments?
For someone with PCOS and who has been on the pill for years, what can she do to help her get in the optimal state to conceive?
What are the mental health pieces you've come across when it comes to seeing PCOS women who want to conceive?
What is the vaginal ecosystem and why should we care?
