    The Future of Housing Policy Under a New Administration

    In this week's episode, NHC President and CEO David Dworkin talks with Sarah Brundage, President and CEO of the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders, and Gisele Roget, Founding Principal of Overbrook Square Group, to discuss the future of housing policy in President Trump’s administration and beyond.   Gisele Roget, a veteran of the first Trump administration, has held influential roles leading teams and directing policy in Washington, DC, becoming the first Black woman to lead the Office of External Affairs for a federal depository regulator with her appointment as Deputy Chief of Staff for the National Credit Union Administration. Prior to joining NCUA, she led the Office of Single-Family Housing of the Federal Housing Administration.   Sarah Brundage is a housing industry veteran having served as a Senior Policy Advisor on the Biden-Harris administration’s Domestic Policy Council at the White House. She also served as Senior Advisor for Housing Supply and Infrastructure at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.   Join David, Sarah, and Gisele as they discuss how the election's outcome may affect housing issues over the next four years.

    On September 9, the National Housing Conference (NHC) and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) hosted “Revolutionizing Homeownership: Innovations in Mortgage Tech, AI, and Data.” The forum brought together policymakers, industry experts, and leaders to examine how emerging technologies are reshaping the housing sector, with a particular focus on advancements in mortgage platforms, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data transparency.  In this week's episode, we revisit the panel, Empowering Consumers: Data Transparency in Housing Decisions, which delved into the transformative potential of advanced data transparency in empowering consumers to make informed decisions. Topics discussed included ensuring clarity on monthly homeownership costs, setting realistic expectations for mortgage processes and closing costs, preparing for potential payment fluctuations, facilitating loan comparisons, and promoting fair pricing practices.

    In this week's episode, we welcome Benson (Buzz) Roberts, who has spent over 45 years serving affordable housing and community development, before retiring as President and CEO from the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders last December. NHC’s President and CEO David Dworkin sits down with Buzz to discuss his career and involvement in creating and improving ground-breaking policies such as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, the New Markets Tax Credit, HOME Investment Partnerships block grants, the Capital Magnet Fund, Treasury Department funding for FHA multifamily risk-sharing loans, regulatory changes to the Community Reinvestment Act, and the proposed Neighborhood Homes Investment Act.
