A Thousand Miles aims to teach Chinese idioms with historical background, fun facts, and engaging stories with culture perspectives for Chinese language learners or anyone who is interested in Chinese culture. We will start from the very beginning of ancient China, all the way until the modern era.
Our eighty-fifth idiom, Jǐng dǐ zhī wā, is used to describe someone who has a limited outlook and can't see the bigger picture.
Episodes will be uploaded every Monday (English version) and Thursday (Chinese version) teaching the same idiom.

A Thousand Miles aims to teach Chinese idioms with historical background, fun facts, and engaging stories with culture perspectives for Chinese language learners or anyone who is interested in Chinese culture. We will start from the very beginning of ancient China, all the way until the modern era.
Our eighty-fourth idiom, Láng tūn hǔ yàn, which is used to describe someone who eats something eagerly and in large amounts, just like how wolves and tigers devour their prey.
Episodes will be uploaded every Monday (English version) and Thursday (Chinese version) teaching the same idiom.

Great cultural context
Key to learning any language is learning about the culture. Cultural stories are great as they are threaded throughout thinking, conversations and events. This podcast offers a really nice way to learn about Chinese culture and connect it to language studies. I wish I had something like this when I was living and working in China.
Best podcast in 2022
One of the better Mandarin podcasts out there for learners. Estella’s language is so easy to understand- easy on the ears, for sure.
