Relationship RescYOU 200: Me, We, World with Dr. Erica Goodstone

Relationship RescYOU 200: Me, We, World with Dr. Erica Goodstone

In part 2 of our Aging GreatFULLy Relationship RescYOU series, we welcome back Dr. Erica Goodstone, Ph.D., LMHC, LMFT, a Healing Through Love Mentor and Relationship Expert and continue the conversation in Relationship RescYOU 200: Me, We, World. We receive a bounty of insight as Dr. Erica helps us understand the nuances of relationships, defines what love is and what love isn’t, and we gain a better understanding of why, when it comes to others, love can be a team sport. They say it takes two to tango, and where love it concerned, it also takes two – to share a common goal of being invested in the relationship.
It’s a conversation rich with wisdom across the ages, as Dr. Erica cites what she’s learned personally, professionally and even gained from some of her most admired mentors. And we realize love may be a little easier said and aspired than acquired – but when we achieve it, it’s well worth the effort. We talk about expectations and even disappointments, both being one and being on the receiving end of one—the power of forgiveness and making amends, and even letting go. And we discuss how the little things can be the big things. We also reflect back to last week’s episode, Relationship RescYOU 101: Me, Myself & I, to our youth and former experiences, even culture, and how they play a powerful role and greatly impact what we bring to our relationships. We gain awareness as to why we choose the partners we choose and even a better understanding on why they may react the way they do in certain situations.
It’s a deeply insightful power-hour of enlightYOUment on all things relationships you won’t want to miss for everyone that wants to know more about dating, their partner, strengthen their marriage, understand more about love, improve their life or just wants more harmony in their relationships both individually and with others!

Relationship RescYOU: Me, Myself & I with Dr. Erica Goodstone

Relationship RescYOU: Me, Myself & I with Dr. Erica Goodstone

In this special 2-part Aging GreatFULLy series we put the spotlight on all things Relationships! In this first episode, Relationship RescYOU 101: Me Myself and I, we welcome special guest, relationship expert, Dr. Erica Goodstone, Ph.D., LMHC, LMFT, a Healing Through Love Mentor, as we focus on the most vital and foundational relationship – that being, the one we have with ourselves. Dr. Erica Goodstone educates us on mother-infant bonding and how the formative years, those we can’t remember, are paramount in how we view and engage in relationships later in life as well as how we adopt personal beliefs regarding internal and external love.
It’s an educational and insightful hour from beginning to end, as we discover how we are impacted by our culture, our family dynamic, upbringing and foundations of love. But most importantly, we learn about the brain’s plasticity allowing us to ability to improve areas where we may have experienced a deficit in those formative and younger years and this empowers us as adults to take the wheel and make positive improvements to make the rest of the years the best of the years moving forward. We discuss disappointment, forgiveness, and capacity for self-love and how the relationship with ourselves is an important one for many reasons. We also realize that when we look around and only see ourselves, it’s not only important to like that person in the mirror, but we also need to be able to count on them. We need to take stock in who we are. But also, it’s beneficial to become our own best friend, get behind ourselves, support ourselves in this journey of life, and know what we stand for and really appreciate what it’s taken to become the person we are today. When we do the work, we realize, when we’ve gotten ourselves to a place where we are good with the person in the mirror, we are ready for what the world –and others—may bring our way. Getting good with who we are is also wonderful rite of passage towards Aging GreatFULLy as well!
Be sure and join us next week as the dialogue continues in part two, Relationship RescYOU 200: Me, We, World with Dr. Erica Goodstone. Understanding the Changing Brain with Teepa Snow

Great insights for everyday life! I listened to Holley Kelly and her podcast interview with Teepa Snow. This show was fascinating and truly relatable. I think all of us at one time or another have memory issues and can identify with what Teepa Snow was speaking about on this show, even if we don’t suffer with dementia. I love how the material was delivered with both compassion and humor. I will definitely listen to more of Holley’s podcasts!
