088: The Key To Surviving Long Parenting Days

088: The Key To Surviving Long Parenting Days

When my daughters were young, I commonly felt tired and ready to fall into bed at night. I was often short-tempered and frustrated when I couldn’t accomplish what needed to get done. It was exhausting to feel like someone always needed me and was always touching me. The days felt so long.  During these challenging years, it grated on me when a well-meaning friend with grown children would say, “Enjoy these moments. They pass all too quickly.” I knew she was right. I had already seen how quickly my daughters were maturing. But her comment felt as if she didn’t remember how difficult these days were.
Then I heard a phrase that I repeated almost daily. I've been thinking about it recently during the teenage years and how the phrase still applies.
In this episode, I'll share that phrase with you and how you can change your perspective to survive long parenting days.
As you consider how you might apply this perspective in your home, think about the following questions:
How can you change your perspective about your days? How can you view your days as an opportunity instead of a chore? What image can you hold onto as a reminder of the opportunity you have?Links mentioned in the episode:

085: 3 Benefits Of Mission Statements For Homeschool Parents

From the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed, I am busy.  As a homeschool parent, it seems that my job is never done. There were days that I sat down after dinner to read to my children, and they had to poke me in the side because I was slurring my speech as I fell asleep! I knew something had to change, but I wasn’t sure what.
Have you felt that way too? You knew you wanted to live purposefully and invest your time in what matters most to you. You probably knew deep in your heart that you couldn’t do it all, but how do you determine what to do and what not to do?
That’s where vision and mission statements come in! In short, they help you make decisions in all aspects of your life. We often hear about a business’s mission statement, but they apply to individuals and families too!
In this episode, you’ll learn three benefits of mission statements that will inspire you to write them for you, your family, and your homeschool.
