Our last episode is a really good one: Bridget Mariner is a diehard New Englander residing in Camden, Maine. She owns and runs Union Street Sourdough specializing in long fermented / organic grain sourdough bagels and cookies, as well as sourdough baking and pancake mixes. Bridget shares her journey working in the corporate and nonprofit world, facing the challenges of modern-day motherhood and working to create her small business while she navigates work -life balance and what the transition was like into entrepreneurship. Bridget is a huge advocate for building community and supporting each other through being human, and we chat a bit about her love of connection through food and what that looked like throughout her life.     JuanCarlos Gonzalez - Photojournalist & Creative 📷

    JuanCarlos Gonzalez is a photographer based in Woodstock, Vermont though he was born and raised in Puerto Rico. You may have heard of JuanCarlos because of his incredible body of work photographing Vermont female farmers, which is now a book and photography exhibit showing in different areas. He travels all over for his work and has been featured in many publications including National Geographic and Vogue Italia, as well as some more local publications, but his most proud moment was when he was featured in his hometown newspaper that became a full circle experience. Together we talk about what that felt like, his journey into photography, what he likes to do in his free time, and what it has been like to work on the Vermont Female Farmers project.     Mateo - Chocolate Maker & Nature Lover 🍫

    Welcome to today’s podcast! In this episode I talk with Mateo of Prophecy Chocolate, based in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Mateo grew up in Massachusetts and spent time working on many organic farms in the US and South America. He spent about 3 years living in Peru and learning how to cultivate many crops including Cacao from generations of local rural farmers. Together we talk about the journey that lead him to Peru and chocolate making and importing and creating high quality products using direct trade and ingredients, as well as local New England ingredients. Beyond the business he teaches farming and gardening and you’ll often find him in the woods learning from nature and enjoying the abundance of the harvest.     Amber Jackson - Tea Blender & Community Builder 💪

    Welcome to another episode. Today we have Amber Jackson on the podcast. Amber is a Chicago native  now residing in Rhode Island, with a passion for tea, people, and Black culture. In 2019 she launched The Black Leaf Tea & Culture Shop as a way to share her love of tea, engage with the community, and celebrate Black culture. Her teas are beautifully blended and a reflection of her background in food science and her interest in nutrition. Together we discuss how she started up monthly Young Black Professionals Mixer and Tea Talks, both were ways to create safe spaces for her local Black Community and bring them together for fun and also insightful conversation.     Mary Lauren Fraser - Casket Weaver, Musician, and Teacher 🎻

    Today’s guest is Mary Lauren Fraser and she is a casket weaver. Using traditional methods of willow weaving, she creates hand made incredible coffins and urns, as a way to support the growing movement of green burials and minimizing harsh chemicals and using biodegradable materials. She is also a musician and found her way to weaving while traveling around the UK to play fiddle. Together we discuss her journey, her process, and a bit about workshops she offers. There is of course mentions of death and funerals in this episode, but I hope it prompts you to be curious and have open communication about these topics and the ways we can create a more environmentally friendly process.     Laura Cui - Tattoo Artist, Dog Lover, and Mainer 🌲 🦪 🐟

    Today on Tell-Talks we have Laura Cui as a guest. She is a tattoo artist based in Portland, Maine. She began her tattoo journey in Vermont and made her way out to Maine where she now co-owns and tattoos at Fortune Teller Tattoo Shop. Her specialty is black and grey illustrative tattoos and she has some really beautiful work of animals, plants, fish, and you may have seen her oyster shell tattoos online a bit. After 30 years in public education, she took the leap into becoming a full time artist and small business owner.
