Debbie fox was unfortunately very gullible. Being an active world traveler doesn’t make you less gullible. She did do it for a perceived love connection. If her friend asked her to liquidate assets for them I’m sure she would have had no problem saying NO and sticking to it. In addition to the stories shared, I think it would be more beneficial to STOP the story at the point where the person is about to cave and send money and have the podcast host say “here is what she should do at this point ”. Then explain that the person should (1) role play with themselves. If they themselves need money would they ask someone they just met online or would they ask a trusted friend or family. If they would not ask their internet love interest then it doesn’t make sense that they should be asked. Immediately disengage! (2) before you engage in any interaction on the internet, practice your response for what you would say if someone asks for money. Even if you’ve talked to them for 6 months. If you’ve never met in person, be prepared to say “I am not able to assist with that. Please reach out to one of your trusted friends or colleagues. “ If you are made to feel guilty from a stranger, it’s a scam. Immediately disengage! (3) a show on how to respond to these people with clear direction on what to say might be more valuable. I don’t know how else you make someone less gullible.
Helpful. Some of these victims are not thinking.

Good to keep seniors apprised of the multitude of scammers out there. Sad stories that need to be shared. Some of the victims are just plain old idiots (listen to puppy scam). Some are true victims Just listen and you will be yelling at your device , don’t do it. No wonder this country loves Trump, they love to throw money at con artists. They keep saying some of these people aren’t stupid, etc. I will let you decide. If you send your life sendings to a faceless person on the phone, something is very wrong with your thinking. If you have an isolated senior in your life please check in with them.
Learning so much

Every episode teaches me something. It’s not making me a skeptic but it’s teaching me to be patient, pay attention and to listen to your gut feeling and not allow your emotions to take control. Each episode is interesting but also I’m learning from the mistakes of others. I wish there wasn’t so much material but pretty grateful these people are willing to share their stories. One of the better podcasts on the internet to listen to. I also like that the narrator is sympathetic.

I”m sorry.. I just don’t believe that in this day in time, with so many warnings about scams and frauds, anybody would be dumb enough to fall for this. Gimme a break. If she’s legit, she deserves what she got.
