Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People
1 phone call. 1 hour. No names. No holds barred. Thats the premise behind Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People, hosted by comedian Chris Gethard (the Chris Gethard Show, Broad City, This American Life, and one of Time Outs 10 best comedians of 2015). Every week, Chris opens the phone line to one anonymous caller, and he cant hang up first, no matter what. From shocking confessions and family secrets to philosophical discussions and shameless self-promotion, anything can and will happen! Theme song by Shellshag.

Great show, but…

You have a pizza shop. You make really good pizza. You have a cult following that loves your pizza. Don’t try to satisfy people who want you to sell tires. Don’t feel bad that you don’t make tires. Your pizza loving fans don’t want tires. Keep up the good work… but keep making pizzas. I’ve been listening since day one, but I recently heard Chris’ comments about people who complain that the show isn’t something else. Even if you start to “sell tires,” those folks aren’t coming to get them. They just want to complain about something. Continue to satisfy your pizza customers by selling pizzas.

Chris’ podcast is a beautiful one, filled with humanity, encouragement, and humor, and packed with the authenticity that Chris brings. Please don’t platform hate in the name of addressing criticism. Not every show is for everyone, and if Chris’ politics aren’t for you, you’ll find plenty that are.
