Why wellbeing training for teachers and parents is priority in Hong Kong
In our latest episode we speak to Jason Broderick from Discovery Bay international school, in Hong Kong. Jason is a qualified psychologist and heads up wellbeing at the school. He gives incredible insight into the groundbreaking wellbeing strategies the school have introduced in the past 4 years. The school now teaches wellness and wellbeing though every subject with standard PSHE style lessons being dropped from next year (excluding sex ed).
He also describes how all teachers at the school have been trained in wellbeing and explains how he has created wellbeing workshops tailored for parents. -
Pro-active strategies to support whole school wellbeing
In this episode we speak with Elena Dundjerovic, Assistant headteacher from the Beaumont school. Elena gives great insight into the strategies she has used and will be using this term to support whole school wellbeing. She talks about how the school learnt lessons from the first lockdown and have pro-actively implemented new strategies to help support student and staff wellbeing.
She also describes priorities for this term and how the school plans to bring back activities which will facilitate the feeling of belonging among students. In the final section of the podcast Jon poses the question to Elena about the school plans to balance student wellbeing with the pressures of catching up academically.
