Episode 17: Politics y Mas Voting, Running & Educating

Episode 17: Politics y Mas Voting, Running & Educating

Danielle learned the power of community and education growing up in the Inland Empire. As a first generation college student at Yale University, Danielle realized her family was not alone in their struggle to access equitable educational opportunities. Her desire to extend equitable education opportunities to families, like her own, led her to become a secondary math teacher on the Navajo Nation where she experienced first hand the barriers low income rural families face to accessing high quality education.
In her role as the Director of Organizing and Policy for Los Angeles Unified Board District 5, Danielle intimately understood the state of education in the second largest school system in the United States and the urgency to make sure that half a million children have access to equitable education.
She is a candidate for Redlands Unified School District, Trustee Area 5 to ensure all students have the same educational opportunities in her hometown.

You can support her by donating to her campaign, phone banking or just promoting on social media. Be sure to follow her

Bestie wine time and mental health FO SHO

Super excite that you brought on someone who can speak to mental health for POC. The idea that mental health isn’t something that should be addressed, or shrugged off. That generational trauma exists. I’d like to add that I feel like a lot of people who experience trauma are carrying something that is a result of colonization. Like colorism, religion, sexism, etc. Thanks for this. As a newer mom, I want to support the idea of being with nature for better mental health. I see it in my son every time our nanny takes him out to one of our state parks. He just focuses more, listens deeply, and breaths. yes. Good stuff, Besties!
