Birth Story Podcast

Hi! I'm Heidi, experienced Birth Doula and host of the Birth Story podcast brought to you by Birth Story Media™. I support moms through their fertility and pregnancy journeys and help have trauma free birth stories and labor stories. When moms embrace their pregnant bellies and their pregnancy and await the arrival of their baby or babies they are going to feel many emotions and have many visions about what will happen during child birth. "Is this normal?" "What does a contraction feel like?" "What does the day of labor look like?" "What is a Doula?" I want every mom's birth story to be peaceful, happy and a memory that they will love to share. Birth Story podcast is my way to provide childbirth education through story telling in the comfort of your home and to prepare a mom for motherhood with any birth story that unfolds for their pregnancy, labor and delivery. If a pregnant mom uses an OBGYN, a midwife, a doula, a birth doula, or has a home birth, water birth, natural birth, C-section, cesarean birth, hospital birth, medicated birth, epidural birth, pitocin birth, an induction or induced labor, are having multiple babies or a single baby, a birth plan or no birth plan; I started this podcast to help moms learn and prepare for their labor and delivery and birth though birth story telling. Wonderful podcast and host!

I listened to Heidi’s podcast before the birth of my son and found myself feeling excited, emotional, and empowered. After his birth, I couldn’t listen for several months because I’d experienced a traumatic birth. Eventually, I started searching for birth stories like mine and could not find many. I submitted an inquiry to share my story and Heidi contacted me right away. I felt so seen in that moment. It was difficult to share my story, but she made me feel safe and helped me realize the birth I experienced was through no fault of my own. After recording, I wanted to back out and pull it, but I’m glad I didn’t. When it was aired and I heard my own conversation with Heidi, it was just so healing. It definitely shifted things for me and I am so grateful for the experience and support. A few months after it aired, a former colleague of mine contacted me to tell me she had listened to my story before her traumatic birth and that it had helped her process her experience. I think the service Heidi offers as a birth story facilitator is invaluable. I highly recommend listening and sharing if you feel compelled.
THE Best!

I listened to Heidi’s podcast leading up to my 5th baby and COMPLETELY credit my amazing birth experience to this podcast, her stories, her advice etc. As a mama who had already been through this several times I STILL learned so, so much about labor, delivery, pregnancy, and beyond. I felt so strong and empowered with my last birth, was able to go into labor on my own (I’d always been induced previously), and had a beautiful, un medicated birth which would not have been possible without you and this podcast. I LITERALLY heard your voice in my head right as I was pushing, so you must have really worked your way into my head and heart! I cannot thank Heidi and Birth Story Podcast enough. As a nurse and mama of 5, she gets all my praise for what she does and how she helps so many.

I’m due with my third baby in a few weeks and have listened to Heidi’s podcast leading up to all three births. I love her sensitivity to the people around her and the passion she has for her career. My first two were textbook pregnancies and births, but was surprised this time around with a diagnoses of cholestasis… listening to the stories women share about the somewhat unwelcome challenges they’ve experienced is helping me cope and prepare for an induction at 36 weeks that I desperately wish I could delay. Love the work, the women, and the raw stories this podcast offers♥️.
So Informative!

I love this podcast so much that I impatiently wait for new episodes to drop every week! Started listening to podcasts when I was pregnant with my second. I wanted less drama/trauma and more voice in my second birth experience and listening to these podcast episodes helped me do just that. Even more than the physical tips, I learned how to be a confident advocate for myself and my baby. I’m currently pregnant with my third and am going back to listen to old episodes. They help me to know that whatever happens with my birth, I’m probably not the only one and I can learn from other people's stories and experiences. Thank you Heidi, for your wonderful, calm interview style mixed with nuggets of wisdom for us to learn and grow!
Informative podcast but terminology is off

I’ve enjoyed listening to this podcast. The host seems kind, informative and relatable. However she refers to mothers as “birthing persons” so that’s a hard no for me. Only women have babies and become mothers in the process. We are not “birthing persons.”
Birth stories + learning

I love that Heidi teaches from her perspective as a doula while interviewing guests about their birth stories. This would have been such a helpful resource when I was pregnant with my first baby, but I actually used a few of her tips in my labor with my 3rd!
The best birth podcast

This podcast is done by the titan of birthing babies, and my doula, Heidi! She is hands down the best and a HUGE advocate for women and babies. Her knowledge is expansive and my husband and I are so thankful we had her with us navigating our birth of our little girl. The information that she delivers in this podcast is insightful, truthful, and inspired. She doesn’t hold back and lays it all out for you right here in each episode. If you can’t have her by your side, listen to her podcast.. it’s the second best thing. 😊💜
Informative

I’ve listened to this podcast for a few years now. For the most part it has good information but the profanity has gotten increasingly worse, which in my opinion is very unprofessional. If you want to raise children who speak respectfully you might not want them around while listening to this podcast unless you are using earbuds.
Helped me through a unmedicated induction!

When being induced unexpectedly for preeclampsia with my second baby I found myself reciting lines and situations in my head from this podcast! I felt so prepared because I had already envisioned each situation and intervention. Then, during transition, I was able to recognize each stage because I had heard so many women on this podcast tell their story. It gave me the strength to keep going!
I owe it all to Heidi and The Birth Story

Because of this podcast I was finally able to feel confident in myself and ability to birth my baby. My third birth was completely unmediated. I was able to use the knowledge I learned from Heidi every step of the way. I’ve listened to all of the episodes and will continue to do so whether pregnant or not. THANK YOU HEIDI!!!
