Feedback

I have listened to this podcast for a while, and I really enjoy the format, concept, and guests. I get good info from this podcast. I have feedback for the main host, Adam Rapoport. I have listened to several episodes where Adam is talking to women and of different cultures and nationalities and expertise. He has many times been culturally insensitive and quite condescending by speaking with authority on things that he knows very little about. For example, he told a guest who travels to Italy frequently that no one ever eats their flavorless saltless bread, I’m paraphrasing, and she kept trying to correct him saying that people clean their plates with it. He insisted that no, no one touches the bread and she repeatedly said “don’t say that.” It sounds small but he spoke about his own opinion of their cultural eating habits with such authority that it seemed to make the guest rather uncomfortable and she didn’t know how to respond to him and moved on. I also notice that he constantly interrupts guests mid sentence to put in his two cents. I often feel uncomfortable for the guests because he totally bowls them over with his often uninformed opinions on someone else’s cuisine. Something he can take away from this is to LISTEN before he speaks, don’t speak on things that he isn’t informed on, and let his guests finish their sentences.

Tell Adam to stop interrupting guests, especially women.

I love the content of the show and appreciate the aim but Adam is a terrible interviewer and host. He seems uninterested in anything the guest is talking about and demonstrates his arrogance by constantly interrupting guests. He has a particular tendency to interrupt the guests who are women. It shows that he is not only sexist but thinks that what he has to say is more important than the guest. I don’t care what he has to say. I am listening to the podcast to hear the guests talk, but I don’t get to do that when he is so rudely interrupting every few moments. I will stop listening to the podcast if he continues as the host. Please replace him. A good listener makes for a good interviewer, and he is neither.
